Parent: As day student parents committed to driving students inside the redline (not permitted to board) we agree with the student reviewer that second form orientation could use modification. The non-stop activities from morning until 10/11 pm seem unnecessary unless exhaustion is the goal. Thank you for considering commuting parents driving an hour to get to Lawrenceville School (4 hours daily). Our children love to be at Lawrenceville and are thankful to attend but near midnight arrival home for almost a week was not the best for all. Parent: We have had two children go through the school. They were very different students and Hun offered just the right amount of academic rigor for each child. I am also completely stunned that anyone would suggest that the academics of the school do not prepare students for college. Hun graduates attend a wide range of top tier colleges from small liberal arts schools to ivies and everything in between. The school doesn't have a one size fits all mentality when it comes to college prep and this is refreshing and a strength. Every type of student can find success here. Parent: We have found Wilberforce to be a place where our children are genuinely known and loved. Athletic teams have grown in strength and competitiveness over the past few years as student numbers have increased. Our kids are happy to come to school and spend time with their friends and teachers. No school is perfect - however, when issues arise we find that teachers and administrators are pro-active and willing to listen, up to and including the the Head of School. Alum: West Windsor Plainsboro High School South has a diverse student body with a heavy focus on academic success. The staff are all very well educated and do a good job of teaching the students in their respective subjects. I personally felt that my teachers throughout all four years gave me the adequate support and encouragement to do well in my classes. Students definitely are encouraged to work hard and take at least some advanced placement or honors courses. South has a unique structure in that many classrooms do not actually contain walls, with dividers being used to distinguish classrooms. The environment is very competitive, and academic pressure is definitely higher at West Windsor Plainsboro High School South than at other schools. Parent: All 3 of my children have had the privileged of starting their academic life in this school. The teachers and staff are amazing - helpful, kind, smart, resourceful, creative and loving. They respond so positively to not only their student but the parents as well. Because the student-to-teacher ratio is low, there is more individualized learning opportunities. Those students that need more guidance AND those that need more academic challenges are both given equal attention. Alum: Nottingham High School, being the place I attended during my high school career seemed very nice... until COVID hit, which somewhat distorted my experience. It also didn't help that as a result of about a year and a half of being locked in our homes, that it took some time for us to even socialize as well, leading to us having lower school spirit and morale, which made it so that when we had to actually be active in school events, very few people were interested. On a different note teachers were very kind and helpful to me and were invested in my future success, and I wouldn't have gotten to the point I'm at right now without them. The students, at least the ones I saw pre-pandemic were mostly well behaved, but the underclassmen, specifically the freshmen during my senior year were... rather bizarre and off putting in their behaviors. Senior: My experience at Steinert was okay as any average high school students was. Everyone had their own clicks to hang out with and sometimes people would make you feel bad about that. There was definitely tension to be judged. It was a good school but there are many things that could’ve been changed about it. Some teachers were amazing while some just didn’t care. Administration some had to be having a good day to be able to communicate with them and some would give a snarky answer.
