Middle School Student: I really enjoyed my time at Wisconsin Hills Middle School! Most of the people there were really nice and caring, and I felt so comfortable talking to my friends and teachers. The academics are really good too, at my school. For math, the school district offers numerous opportunities to excel in the subject, as they place you in more advanced level courses that your other peers if you need a challenge. The teachers and staff are also super encouraging and helpful if you need extra guidance in any subject. Senior: The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School district is the only school district I've ever known, but that doesn't mean I can't tell it is one of the best districts in the state. There are many excellent teachers at the high school, especially in the advanced and STEM classes. For example, every one of my math teachers has been encouraging, inspiring, and phenomenal in all respects. Additionally, the music program is amazing, with many different class options and bands that preform across the country in many competitions. I am an enthusiastic member of the school's top jazz band, which has performed in the Essentially Ellington Competition. The culture in the music program has made my high school experience amazing, with many students that appreciate both music and each other. My experiences in elementary and middle schools were just as rewarding. Of course, the district isn't perfect, with some administration and diversity issues. Alum: The academic standards are incredibly high at this district, the high school is %100 a college prep high school and prepares the students extremely well for the content and workload of a typical college student. The teachers are phenomenal, they take the time to adhere to the student's needs and genuinely care for the wellbeing of every student. The heart of this school district is with the teachers, however the School Board tends not to listen to their concerns.The theater program is very advanced with a large stage and many musical/play productions. Junior: I think that the Waunakee schools have been very good for providing a clear path for education and to college, and the teachers are more often than not supportive of their students and of their futures. Senior: I attend Cedarburg Highschool and in terms of academics and staff i feel like I have the best of the best! I have learned so much and those teaching me were always there to help if I needed it. Acedemics range from algebra to chemistry to theater to painting and even coding and robatics. It was also not hard to find extra curricular activities. There are clubs for everyone,some academic based and some sports and technology based. I always felt safe at school aswell. Not only does the school have and officer on site, but we are conveniently located 2 mins away from our local police department. The only thing i would improve at the school/district would be the food. Its just not good and i feel like there could be more healthy options. Overall my experience at Cedarburg has been great! Alum: When I was at PSD, it was a very good district. I was there from kindergarten to graduation in 2019 and I loved it all. It has amazing facilities, teachers, and academics. I learned a lot and learned to love learning through this district. Some of the downsides of this school is their technology/computer departments are lacking. They don't teach much and aren't very complete; thrown together. As someone who loves computers, this was annoying for me. Another downside is the diversity of the school, there is basically none. Senior: I enjoyed my high school experience at Shorewood, but I also know that my success and happiness have a lot to do with my race and interests. Shorewood is not at all diverse, mostly because the North Shore area of Milwaukee is predominantly white. I also have interests in music and the performing arts, and because of that, I was able to thrive in Shorewood's arts programs. However, they started to decline during Covid and now are just a fraction of what they once were when I started high school. Shorewood's campus and overall location is very safe. We are not at all good at sports and participation in sports teams is very low. Most of the teachers are good, and the school does a very adequate job of preparing you for college.... Senior: I loved my experience with the Greendale School District. All throughout my school years, I was surrounded by teachers that cared about me and encouraged me to learn. Greendale always provided a comforting environment that allowed for me to focus on my studies and embrace my academic potential. Greendale is not perfect, of course- every school district has some flaws- but I always felt very lucky to go to Greendale. Our staff members are set on pushing their students towards success. Senior: My experience at Kimberly High has been an experience I would never replace. The environment is one of the most friendly and kind to all. Teachers take the time to develop strong relationships with the students and individually work with them to achieve goals. I would recommend Kimberly to take a more diverse approach by hiring more teachers of different races. This would create a more diverse environment within the school. Senior: Slinger School district is an excellent school. They offer a number of different and college level classes. The teaching staff is top of the line. My educational goals are to constantly learn, absorb information from my professors, and take in different opinions and viewpoints from my classmates. Senior: My parents transferred me to this school my sophomore year, and that’s the best decision they have made for me! Right away, I was immersed with educational content in my tech ed clases, business classes, and core classes. Junior: The School District of New Berlin offers some of the best academics out of all of the public schools in the state. New Berlin Eisenhower High School and multiple of the middle schools are routinely ranked within the top schools within the state of Wisconsin. The high schools offer nearly every AP class on campus and a decently wide variety of other classes. The district definitely pushes students to climb high academically, offering programs such as taking 7th/8th grade math in 6th grade and summer school. At least at New Berlin Eisenhower, the student culture is very academically-focused. Most students are high-achievers and strive to do well in their classes. In contrast to a lot of other schools, doing well is "cool" and doing poorly is slightly frowned upon by peers. Almost all students take at least one AP class throughout their high school careers, with a considerable amount taking 5 or more. The facilities at the schools are not great. Alum: This district is considered to be one of the best in the state for good reason. There are excellent teachers that care about their students. There are very unique science opportunities such as chemistry labs and biotechnology. The high school also has a nice theater for drama-inclined students to participate in plays and musicals. However, the district overall focuses on sports over the arts, even though our musical my senior year was sold out and brought in a good amount of money to the school. Senior: The teachers and staff are amazing. You can tell that the majority of the teachers in the schools truly care about the students and want them to succeed. The curriculum being taught includes things that will help students later in life. It is a benefit that students are able to participate in many different opportunities through the schools, like all of the amazing extracurriculars. The students also benefit when they get to Franklin High School, where they get to choose some of their classes. Some things that the school district could improve include, discipline, and rule-setting for the students, especially in Forest Park Middle School. The school district could also increase more funding for band and other school clubs.
