Alum: I was the first of my family to attend Mater Dei and I fell in love with the school. I made so many great memories from the football games to the amazing friends I made. I thought the classes prepared me for college tremendously and made it very easy to transition into college. Although, the tuition is expensive I think every penny was worth it. The teachers were amazing and always made the subjects fun and exciting to learn about. I think the opportunities I received by being a Mater Dei Alumni also made the high school worth it. Senior: Raider Pride runs through the veins of every student, parent, faculty and alum here at Saint Thomas Aquinas. There are a plethora of sports, clubs, honor societies, and activities for everyone. While we are a school known for athletics, we are also known for our faith. Our campus ministry visits Catholic middle schools to inspire and strengthen the Catholic faith. As a STA senior, my preparation for college was definitely easier with the guidance counselors being available any time a question needed an answer. Senior: La Salle is a great place to learn. I went to both middle and high school there, and I can safely say I received a good, well-rounded education. Almost all of the teachers are great; they care about you and they are extremely easy to have a real relationship with. The educators at La Salle are real people, and the students are lucky to be able to interact with them as such. Food at La Salle is good for high school food: comparable to college food I would say. Sports are excellent as well! There are a few things that irked me about La Salle, however. Certain deans and counseling staff showed little interest in the betterment of the student body and were frequently unresponsive when I or my family would try and reach out with a question. I understand that people in administrative positions have a lot on their plates, however, sometimes it was difficult to receive even a little bit of support from them. Alum: Going to BC High was easily one of the best decisions I/my parents have ever made. It is truly a school that goes above and beyond, with an unbreakable sense of community and brotherhood. Between the incredible teachers that truly care and the excellent guidance department, the opportunities are endless if you take advantage of them. BC High has made me a more well-rounded student and person, and I do not know where I would be today without this school. The friendships you make at this school will be some of the best and most long-lasting ones you will ever make, even through college and beyond. The location and commute on the T and interaction/proximity to the city makes every student a responsible, independent, and, well-adjusted member of society way before they are expected to be. Parent: This is one of those amazing Catholic schools that stands out far above the rest. The community is incredibly supportive, faith-filled, welcoming and comfortable for all. Catholic/Christian values are not compromised and are consistently weaved in among all that happens through out the day. The administration successfully handles all the challenges facing our teenagers today. The faculty is full of alumni, parents of alumni, and teachers who are vested in the success and happiness of their students. The academics are rigorous but there are a variety of paths to choose from. The sports programs are excellent but you don't have to play a sport here to feel a part of the enormous school spirit. Students and faculty are proud and thankful to be at Cathedral. This school is an uplifting place for your kids to be each day. Senior: I came from a public school and transferred into St. John Bosco during the sophomore year. The school atmosphere was a breathe of fresh air. Teachers and staff have a true sense of care for the students that I didn't find at my previous school. I wasn't a very religious child, but St. John Bosco didn't treat me worse because of this fact. Junior: Gibbons Students live at Gibbons. That doesn't mean that we eat and sleep on campus, although some have tried; it means that this school is where we feel at home. I never get to school after 7:30 am and usually don't leave until 4:30 or 5. That is how welcoming and engaging Cardinal Gibbons is. Between the educators, students, families, athletics, clubs, campus/facilities, and the community at CGHS I would rather be nowhere else. Even though we are a Diocesan Catholic School, the Catholic Faith is not forced upon student. Plenty of student come from other faiths and no one is forced to conform to a certain culture; however, there are still innumerable ways to live out your faith on campus via Mass, service, or the wonderful school Chaplain affectionately known as "Father." Parent: Sending our sons to Salesianum School was the best decision we ever made. I have three sons with very different interests. My boys have participated in band, theatre, Science Olympiad, basketball, soccer, baseball, tailgate club, ping pong club, guitar club and others. Academically I could not ask for more. My oldest two sons were both accepted into many colleges with scholarships and are currently in the Honors Program at UD. Sallies prepared them with the study and organizational skills to be independent and successful in college and later in life. The best part about Sallies is the brotherhood. My sons have each met "their people" and have made life long friends. My two sons in college still hang out with their Sallies friends on breaks. Sallies teaches the students about hard work and dedication as well as humility and compassion for others. Sallies develops the students to be well rounded respectful adults. Sophomore: So far it has been a great experience. No matter what your interests are, or what sports you do there is a group for you. it is incredibly easy to make friends. Coming from public middle school I was not the best student. My first complaint is that some teachers are very difficult and fail lots of student, regardless of effort. I was not prepared for what highschool would be like. Very quickly into my Gonzaga experience I realized that I would need to apply myself more if I wanted to go to a good college. Gonzaga helped me with that and I improved as a student. The athletics are very competitive, and when I was cut from my sport, I just joined another. It has helped me have new experiences.My second, and final complaint is the strictness and severity of punishments. Student services can be very "over the top" and makes examples out of student. Senior: North Kingstown High School is a great school! I am currently in my senior year and have had a great experience. For the most part, the classes are challenging and there is a variety to choose from. North Kingstown provides business classes that allowed me to find out what I wanted to major in college for. They also have a wide range of engineering and art classes. There are also many opportunities to earn college credits through RIC and URI which can transferable to other colleges nationwide. I have a friend who was able to do that her senior year and now she doesn't have to take some of those classes in college! Our extracurriculars are also really good. I played tennis, lacrosse, and ran indoor track. Every team was welcoming and fun to participate with.
