Junior: The troy school district has given my and my family a place to thrive. Troy has a equitable and supportive curriculum foundation and supports students with all interests and abilities. Troy Schools are made of teachers who are loving and caring for all their students, and put in all their effort, in order to personalize for each and every student. Furthermore, Troy Schools has been very supportive in listening to all students' and parents' opinions. I have been very vocal at school board meetings, whether it be in favor of changes or against policy platforms and ideologies. Troy Schools have always acknowledged my opinion, though I may not agree with all the decisions, and have worked hard to support all their students. The new curriculum change, adding IM curriculum was not popular amongst honors students like myself. I was very vocal and attended all the school board meetings. Senior: I really enjoy attending Northville high school. The facility at Northville all do their best to accommodate all of the students. The best part of Northville, in my opinion, is the ability for students to take either the IB or AP route. I learn better when I am applying my knowledge, so I was able to apply for and then join the IB Diploma program, which sets me up for an easy transition to college. We also have many elective classes that revolve their coursework around life after high school, which is extremely helpful for junior and senior students. One thing that I would change is the system that requires students to take a math class all four years, even after the credits have been fulfilled. This applies to other subjects as well, but I wish that I was able to substitute out a math class in my senior year, for a class that better fits the interests of what I am looking into doing after I graduate. Junior: I have been going to Okemos school all my life and I have always loved it here. This district is so accepting of everyone, no matter where you are from or your background. I am a part of the LGBTQ and I have always felt safe and respected here. They give everyone equal opportunities and look at everyone the same. Senior: Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) offers a variety of resources and extracurricular activities and opportunities that most students would typically never get while attending a public high school. The accessibility granted by AAPS made available all of its students increases both educational equity and intellectual vitality in the population of its students throughout the district. I like how many options are given to the students within AAPS both inside and out of the classroom, and the amicable bonds that can be formed between teacher and student. Alum: Personally, my experience in Forest Hills Public Schools was moderately alright. There are certain aspects this district excels at, such as its policies to keep students safe. However, there are other instances that I feel the district failed me as a student. Coming from a family that has always struggled and relied on government assistance, there were many situations I found myself outcast from the social group of FHPS simply because I couldn't participate due to funding, or because I was socially looked down upon. Additionally, when I was going through mental abuse at home, there was not much offered in terms of help. In fact, one of the counselors brought in the very person who was treating me this way - making it more unsafe for me at home. And later, when it worsened, a different school counselor told me to "get over it" and that she "does the same thing" to her children. Sophomore: Overall Saline is a good school with lots of great teachers that are committed to what they are doing and what they are teaching; however, the school paints itself as this tremendously inclusive school, but as a student inside of the school, specifically the high school it is not as lovely as they paint it. I notice that Saline focuses primarily on the STEM field, and does not leave as much room in the budget for the humanities. For example, recently the school just got over a million dollar bond and the primary things they are doing with the money is to create things to help advance the already STEM classes at school, by doing things like build a robotics classroom. I wish they would take the time to use more of the money towards the humanities and social sciences, as that is something I am very interested in.... Read 29 reviews

Other: I have a granddaughter in the WO school system that was diagnosed with brain cancer just after she finished kindergarten. It was a bad diagnosis and the whole elementary school, parents and students included, rallied around her and supported her every way they could! Just before middle school this year they found another brain tumor. Once again, everyone is rallying behind her! The middle school coaches and football team did something so special for her, it still brings tears to my eyes! We are so thankful for the awesome WO and ministration and teachers, that again, are so supportive, caring, and understanding. Just know you are appreciated! It’s hard enough transitioning into middle school from elementary school, but loosing your hair just prior to the start of school, and the effects the cancer treatments have on your outward appearance compounds the difficulty of transitioning. Alum: Overall, a great and positive experience in my life. It is something I will miss going forward, but time moves on, and so does my life. The teachers, overall, were really great! But, of course, we do not always click with every teacher or classmate. I loved playing in marching and symphonic bands and my band mates! Awesome experience!! These taught me how to work with other people and personalities and how to punch through difficult issues, especially, when I am tired. I met and bonded with so many amazing people, an experience I will always cherish. But, like most schools, you have bullies, self inflicted “caste” systems, and those who do not seem to care about anyone or anything but themselves. I wish we could all remember, we are all human, we all make mistakes, we all need love, compassion, and forgiveness.
