I have had such an amazing experience at Cypress Bay. First off, the student body is extremely diverse almost 5,000 kids from around the world. The different international perspectives brings a unique vibe to the school. Additionally, Cypress has over 100 different classes that they offer at all different levels. There is an elective for everyone and students' schedules are very flexible. One of the best things about the Bay is how many clubs they offer. I have been involved with at least 3-4 clubs every year and it has given me so many volunteer and service opportunities. The best part about my school are the traditions. Pep rally is one of my favorite events since all the classes where their color and go and and compete in games such as tug-o-war. For the past 2 years, the class of 2021 has won! Homecoming is also another favorite of mine. During the week of Homecoming, everyone dresses up in accordance to the theme of the day and it is so fun seeing what people come up with.
My high school experience was literally stellar -- to the point where I still miss it as a college student. The laid back yet invigorating atmosphere facilitated by the principal made pep rallies and spirit days absolute parties. I truly enjoyed going to a school where so many races and ethnicities were present, and I've never once felt like a lone minority. I had some of the best teachers here who made the classroom a warm and inviting space, and the AP/AICE courses helped prep for college.
Some improvements would be fixing the overcrowding issue, because parking, carpooling and so many other areas become extremely difficult to manage with so many people at the school. It was also really hard to get in touch with my guidance counselor, which I think a lot of peers agreed with, so guidance counselors in general were just understaffed and seemed way too busy for us.
Overall, I still love Cypress Bay through and through!

Awesome high school! Everyone here is super friendly and diverse, and the teachers do a great job of making sure you understand the material. The campus is massive and they're always expanding each year - as a matter of fact they are building an entirely new building at the time of this review. Cypress has a wide variety of courses for students to choose from and many sports teams to participate in (if you're into that sort of stuff). The college readiness counselors genuinely care about getting you into a great college and work very closely with your parents to make sure that happens. Overall a really good school, I'm glad to be a part of the lightning!
