Lane Tech is an amazing school where the students are diverse and the resources are numerous. Students have access to well-qualified teachers and aid. Lane Tech excels in all areas: the sports teams dominate their fields, there are over 100 student-led clubs, our theater productions and choirs are superb. This list can continue endlessly because Lane Tech stops at nothing to succeed and provide its students with as many resources and opportunities as possible. The only problem with Lane Tech is that its students do not always feel heard, thus this year alone Lane Tech has started numerous committees dedicated to voicing the opinions of the student body and bringing problems directly to the administration. I would highly recommend this school to anyone because it serves everyone. My biggest piece of advice is to network and not to prohibit yourself from branching out. Instead, put yourself out there! There will always be a group willing to accept you with open and loving arms.
Lane Tech is just one of those high schools that feels like home. It may seem big and intimidating when you first walk in, but once you get to know the teachers and students, find out about all the wonderful clubs and organizations, and find out that you get to go outside for lunch, you'll never want to leave! Academics range from regular classes, to honors and APs. Teachers and counselors push students to take rigorous classes in order to prepare them for the college lifestyle. However, this is not only a high school of academic achievement. There are numerous sports teams and clubs you can join, where you will meet students with the same interests and ambitions as you. Personally, Lane Tech College Prep High School is best place to be for those memorable 4 years leading up to college.
As a senior, Lane is a good school to go to if you want to prepare for college. Teachers take their time in helping students and answer their questions. The counselors are very good at giving students resources for college or give advice about school. There are a lot of programs and extracurriculars to join, so you can pick and choose which ones you want to do.
Because it is a very big school, there is a lot of diversity. There are students from all over Chicago with different backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities, which helps everyone learn about each culture. Lane even has ethnic clubs for International Days and Nights, and those are the best days ever!
However, there is a lot of competition with students in academics and extracurriculars because there is a lot of students. Sometimes, the workload Lane gives out can be stressful, at least to me. I think the positive aspect is that this is a way of preparing students for college and their careers.
