Overall, Lane has become more than just a high school to me. Lane has provided me with a tremendous amount of opportunity from programs, clubs, and AP classes. I not only feel comfortable, but I also feel challenged. To say that Lane lives up to its “college preparatory” name is an understatement. Something that truly added my experience is the atmosphere. The school is very big, but also very college-like. It’s really up to the student to decide if they want their high school experience to mean something. Some aspects of Lane that aren’t academic but just as equally as important are off-campus lunch and the school spirit! One improvement would be to add more counselors in the counseling department because trying to have a personalized relationship with your guidance counselor is nearly impossible with 4,000 other students. I love this school and I am so glad to be given the opportunity to attend Lane.

I love Lane Tech for the simple reason of true diversity and opportunities from the classroom and outside! Being the most diverse high school population in Illinois, we managed to rise to the #3 spot of the best high schools in Illinois (according to USNews). While I admit the average scores at Lane may not rise above #3, the most advanced classes like Calculus-III, surpass the top schools' study material. The raw opportunity to simply explore what you're interested in is an adventure on its own. There are so many opportunities in afterschool clubs and activities that a true high school experience comes out.
Lane Tech is truly an amazing school when it comes to creating new and exciting experiences and preparing for secondary education. The entire student body is very diverse, resulting in well-rounded and open-minded graduates. I am very lucky to have spent my last four years at this school. I feel that I have grown so much as a person as a result of the incredibly supportive yet challenging environment that I have thrived in. Although I will deeply miss walking through the colorful, immense halls of Lane Tech, I feel ready to move on to my next level of education and am excited for the next phase of my life!
