Carmel High School really prioritizes student well-being and education. They have a wide variety of classes that not many schools can say they have such as Radio and Television. There's also a large variety of food options that are open to several diets. The school is huge but students can easily find a place to fit in thanks to the large list of clubs and activities. The school's counselors do a wonderful job making sure all students are meeting the criteria and getting the most out of their high school experience. As a student myself, I feel very safe in school because it provides more police officers and other safety measures than usual. The school faculty do a wonderful job keeping all the classrooms clean for each and every school day. Overall, Carmel High School is full of amazing opportunities and resources that students should not miss! They really set you up for college.
Carmel high school is the largest highschool in Indiana. I saw that as a pro because you were meeting new people everyday and it was very typical if you didn’t know anyone in your class so it almost forces you to become more social. Because it is so big there are so many more opportunities to become a part of something that interests you. There are hundreds and hundreds of different clubs and anyone can find themselves belonging to at least one. I know I was a part of four! Another great thing about a big school is the sporting game nights. It was amazing to see the 5,000 students all decked out in school spirit at the football games, soccer games, lacrosse games, etc. We have extremely high standards and our schools curriculum sets the students up well to be successful in their freshman year of college. My favorite part ultimately, was how everyone was just so involved. Whether it be students, administration, or parents. Everyone was involved in the success of each student.
This school was terrible. I stayed here for two years (technically 10 because I went to elementary and middle school in the school district) and my experience was GARBAGE! There were a lot of class options, clean facilities, and some nice teachers, but the stress and anxiety I dealt with due to homework and other mental health problems was unbearable. The school is very cliquey, if you don't find your friends in elementary and middle school then you might as well be a loner. I've dealt with high levels of shyness my entire life so I hardly made any friends and the ones I did have I rarely got to see because there were too many people at this school (5,500+ kids). Also, the school's emphasis is on sports and not even the best ones. The girl's swim team has won the state championships for OVER THIRTY YEARS and the school barely pays attention to it, but basketball and football get tons of new equipment and new gyms all the time and they lose a lot.
