Senior: Some of the greatest experiences of this school is that they have a very welcoming environment for all the new students coming into their community. For example, in six grade they have a week dedicated to welcome all the new six graders so that they could feel comfortable forming bonds with other students. Another thing I like about this school is that different cultures are represented in various assemblies. Junior: Elsik High School is a good school to learn and become a better person. I won’t lie at first I was doing really bad but the most you focus on school and not your friends you start getting better, I started from having a 2.0 gpa and now have a 2.5, yes, maybe I can do so much better but I am still so proud of myself and next year I will try my best to get at 3.0 or more. This high school has many bad influences (students) and many think is cool and they do the same, this school tries It’s best to fix it but many don’t listen. So they’ve taken action to change that. One thing I could maybe change would be how unfair some teachers are, because I get sick a lot I get migraines, I’ve missed like 4 days of school this year and one of my teachers, when I ask for the work they kind off give an attitude, and I feel disrespected because I was in a lot of pain for me to even miss school is the worse. Senior: The best thing I have experienced at Hastings High School is its diversity. There are students of different races, cultures, and backgrounds, so people are extremely open-minded and less judgmental. It is easy for an immigrant like me to join the community and find my community. Some worst parts I have observed that I believe could be improved. I would like to give students the benefit of the doubt. I assume that every household situation is different, and especially if you’re born into a low-income household, it is difficult to balance school and work. I’ve noticed some students lose interest in their education due to drugs and unhealthy relationships. Life is not an upward trajectory for all students at my school. For some kids, it’s hard to judge them since the environment they grew up in impacts their worldview and priorities. Senior: I liked my experience in yes prep gulfton because it was very fun but i feel that they should improve there elective courses and that they should have classes that can help you on something that you want to study for example in mechanic, nursing , business, etc. because yes prep gulfton has a majority of Hispanic students and most of them are first generation students, so they don't have the big of a chance to go to a 4 year college because of money problem . So i feel that they should have more elective classes in stuff that most of the student pick as there are of study so they go prepare in college. i believe that this will help them more to succeed and to help them find out if they really want to study this or if that is not for them instead of dropping out in college.... Junior: So my High school (Energized For STEM Academy, Inc. High School) could be considered bad for other people. In my opinion it’s a good school. It would be like don’t judge a book by its cover. The high school is small but everyone knows everyone and it’s easy to make friends with.The school doesn’t get many funds but they try their best to make things good for us. They sell snacks at lunch to raise money for field trips and fun activities. Last year we got to go to many field trips because of that. This month we were able to go to the Renaissance festival and it was fun. The school also didn’t have clubs until this year because they didn’t have the resources for clubs. Now we have a debate team which they placed 3rd place last month, drama, Tame (engineering and science club), math, soccer, and they are trying to get a volleyball club as well. Teachers are nice and very helpful by staying to tutor us on any material. I do hope we get to have more stuff for next year but that’s about it.... Read 88 reviews

Freshman: My overall experience within ILT-KWHS is that it's a 8.2/10, though not many students agree with it, it's really all about how you behave in school to avoid any sort of punishment and really pay attention to even the littlest of things. The best part about my experience as of now is definitely JROTC and the SAT Prep. The only worst part I can of is their illogical punishments regarding my friends, two of my friends received ASD for "unsubscribing" to their EA(Eagle Academy, a program afterschool for students with missing or failed work assigned by the teachers)even though both said they didn't, with one of them not knowing how and about how they deal with dresscode, they used to give ISS to students but now do ASD I believe, damaging students records a lot, causing students to switch schools. Freshman: The campus I attend is very small, however, the campus is very well maintained and the professors have a desire to teach. The classes have maybe 20-30 students each, allowing the professors to get to know each student and help them perform their best. The advisors want to help each student reach their goals. Senior: In my opinion Yes Prep-White Oak is a passable school because it gives you various opportunities, but it does not prepare you academically. For example, throughout my high school years not only did they gave us the chance to retake SAT's 3 times, but they also gave us the time to retake STARR tests that we had failed the previous year. That is something I admire in them because they are considerate, but that is also limiting us from our preparation for college. In other words, the work that they give us is not challenging enough to help us in our future college career, since the grading scale is poorly made. For example, if you get a score of less than 50, they don't give you that low score they just give you automatic 50, so if you earned a 0 you would get a 50. In college if you get a 0, they are going to give you a 0 no matter what and this school does not prepare you for that. I got to meet many wonderful and amazing teachers who taught me a lot. Based on the teachers I have had so far you can tell that every teacher, AP and principal who works here loves their job, they always tend to find ways to make the school better by letting us participate in many activities such as sports or clubs. Senior: My overall experience at wisdom high school is still continuing. So far, there is amazing faculty who is there to help and keep all of us students on track, as well as school culture that’s aids in the schools services to students in need. However, our school is very diverse, which causes a serious social disconnect from other races and we’re not funded enough to decrease the overcrowding population. Which can make the learning experience fall short for other immigrant students and citizens who don’t really feel motivated to do the work. The faculty tries their best when it comes to the kids but I feel there is too many and not all of us extract what we really need from the school. It’s also very easy to get distracted and fall to the bottom as far as academics. Mainly because, a lot of the students are minorities and even when the school tries to help there is only so much they can do for these kids and their personal lives. Middle School Student: It’s not a school for everyone. There are a lot of driven, intelligent students who create a competitive environment. Definitely a place for someone who places a premium on academic. Students are overall very nice and supportive of each other. Many lifelong friendships are made. It will prepare you for high school and beyond. In fact, the majority of the valedictorians from Bellaire High School graduated from THR the past two years.
