I love Duchesne because of the faculty. It has excellent safety with all there policy around the school. There academics are wonderful, there teachers are excellent, and there food is the best when it comes to serving the kids. You should go to Duchesne because of great things have to offer for your child. Your kids or kid would get a lot of responsibilities at Duchesne like checking there email on a computer every single school day with 4th grade and up. Duchesne goes from Pre-Ka 3 to a senior in high school. They are a wonderful school and I could say many more wonderful things about Duchesne. Even though my I go to Duchesne every single school day, she always comes home with a new story. Duchesne has a lot of fun holiday breaks like usual and has fun four and three day weekends occasionally. They basically have 3 schools in one: Upper School(9th-12th), Middle School(5th-8th), and Lower School(Pre-Ka3-4th). So even though this school is divided into 3 it will always be one school!
Duchesne is a good school don’t get me wrong and I love it but there are a couple of flaws. First, the work load is really heavy. It gets hard to balance it all and it raises my stress levels significantly to the point that now I go to therapy to help. Second, I feel the administration doesn’t spend their money well. I remember that once they bought a flat screen tv to put next to another flat screen tv! This money could be used for better helping the students rather than the schools image. Lastly, there are some problems with teachers. Most of the teachers are good and you can tell that they enjoy what they do but there are a handful of teachers that are mean and belittling. It seems like these bad teachers act mean because they can get away with it and, a lot of the time it feels like a power play because in their classroom what they say goes. These teacher really ruin the whole school year for me, and as someone who has gone to this school for 14 years, I would know.
Duchesne has a wide variety of clubs and electives for any interest! I am currently in the Classic Film Club, where we watch movies such as Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Godfather, or if you are into comedies, Airplane. If you're more into programming and electronics, we have Cyberpatriot, where we compete in a state-wide competition each year. I love all the different clubs at Duchesne, so I'm hoping to start a club with my friends and our awesome theology teacher, Mr. Phillips, next year! As an elective, I take Treble Choir. Currently, we have a pretty large choir at around 70+ girls, but we are making sure to keep socially distanced! It is an SSA choir, which means that we have a Soprano 1 section, Soprano 2 section, and Alto which I am in. Music-wise, we have a new music theory and AP music theory class (which I hope to take next year) and guitar and songwriting classes. I'm excited for next year so I can try some of the new fine arts classes (I'm a bit of a music nerd)!
