Houston Heights High School Reviews
Rating 3.31 out of 5 29 reviews
The best parts of Heights High School is the wide variety of student body that we have. The diversity throughout our school is truly what makes it unique and stand out compared to other high schools. In future years, now that the TEA has taken over I believe that this change is awesome for Heights High school as students will now be significantly more engaged and present in their learning environments. Over the three full years I have attended Heights High the only bad part about it we’re the Covid years and that is not Heights fault.
With an open mind you can have the best experience at Heights High School. Join one of the clubs or sports offered - the school most likely offers something you are interested in already - to meet new friends.
Most of the teachers are caring and will help you succeed if you are motivated to do so. Yes, you will have homework assignments and if you are taking AP/ IB/Dual Credit/ Honors or PreAP/PreIB classes you might have a lot of homework to do after school. But these are designed to help you succeed in your classes and in college/ AP/ IB tests. As a junior and senior in good standing (attendance, good discipline, passing classes and STAAR exams) you will have the privilege of being able to have lunch off campus.
However, the school is pretty big, so, if you are not getting actively involved, you can be "unseen" during your years here.

Heights High School can be a good school, that is if you get lucky enough to have good teachers and counselors. I would though recommend the Heights IB program, it’s helped me most and has been the most effective classes offered at Heights; however, the qualifications of some teachers could be questioned, along with the type of readiness certain AP and standard level teachers provide for students.
