Senior: This high school has really helped prepare me for the harder classes I may be introduced to in college. The best parts were how helpful the teachers are, in helping provide extra help and resources incase you were struggling with anything. The worst part would be how some of the school events were handled, recently many tests and club events or other trips were overlapped causing some things to be cancelled. Parent: All three of my children have been at this school. Well my son went when it was named BETA and he went on to Science Academy and now at UTRGV medical school obtaining a PhD. My oldest daughter graduated last year 2023. She is now at Lamar Academy doing very well . STPA prepared her for a challenging curriculum. She had mastery on all EOC both grade level and high school. My youngest will graduate this year and is very happy she also has mastered grade level and high school EOC so far. I like the fact you can stay in your own grade but advance several years in various subjects such as math, English and social studies. Lamar Academy does not allow you to skip English 1 even with a mastery level EOC. You will have to audit English 1 and get a grade that will not be calculated into your GPA. You do not have to repeat the EOC if you passed. Overall the teachers there are amazing and inspiring. Many of the parents are tigers like myself and I think that combo allows for greatness.... Senior: My experience at Achieve Early College High School is great! Since the school is pretty small everyone knows everyone but that is something that I really love about my school. I love how we can get an advanced education and we can get an associates degree to speed up our college process. Achieve is filled with amazing staff and teachers, everyone is so helpful and welcoming. I have had some of the best experiences at school because of the activities that get hosted. Our principal Miguel Carmona is very lenient and that allows us to have super fun events that make memories of a lifetime and the events get even better once your a senior which really makes me not want this school year to end yet. I have definitely made some of the best friends in this school because all my peers are some of the most awesome people ever. Alum: Going to Lamar was one the best decisions I made. Because of this school I learned everything I needed from my teachers and they pushed to learn more. Alum: Sharyland provided far from everything I needed to succeed at the high school level and prepare for college. At Sharyland, I was able to excel in my sport (Soccer) at the district, regional, and state levels as I got to work with some of the best coaches in the state. In the classroom, I was instructed by amazing teachers who made the classroom an interactive and exciting environment to be in every day. The school administrators and counselor also played a crucial role in my upbringing as they prepared me adequately for college. Extracurricular activities, festivities, and school events were also an incredible attribute of Sharyland that added to is great environment and culture in which parents were also greatly involved. Senior: I’ve been in this school for 13 years and it’s been a wonderful experience. I left one year because I moved to Brazil but when I came back I went back to this school. I love the people and teachers and it’s a very loving community. The one thing I love is sports. Our soccer team did so good this year and it was one of the best teams I’ve played in, in these four years that I’ve been in high school. I was the captain of the soccer team and I loved it so much. The one thing I want to change about the school is to have more sports and more clubs. If they had that It would be one of the best schools to go to. Middle School Student: I was here at morris for only my 6th grade year during the 1999-2000 school year. I really loved this school when I went here and I felt really safe in the environment I was in. And also whenever you would report someone they actually do their job and they take care of it immediately. The teachers were really awesome and it helped me prepare for college. I know I was only here for 6th grade, but the reason why is because when they built Cathey Middle School in 2000 it was closer where I lived so I moved there, but I loved Morris a lot, so if your thinking of sending your children to Morris, do it, I highly recommend it, and you wont regret it.... Sophomore: The best parts of my experience as a student at Thelma R. Salinas Early College High School are the opportunities given to succeed and get college classes out of the way during highschool and the students and teachers working together due to the campus being small and having more of a chance to work one on one with others. The worst parts of the experience are not getting offered time to get community service hours through helping on campus. I would add more opportunities on top of the ones already added. Senior: I would say the best part is the different clubs and academics they're so diverse and I'm sure that people will find something fitting for them from clubs and I am certain that students who go here will do greatly academically because they're so focused on academics and college readiness. This school help us get an associate degree before we graduate high school for free and making it a great opportunity. The bad parts that I could come up with is that sports is a bit of an issue but they do offer it with other schools meaning your schedule will get a bit tight on what you want to do. The other thing would be the funding from the school because they have money but do have a bit of favorites. I think it would be great for students who are interested in STEM jobs, and I wish that they could get more funding for some clubs like robotics, band, and BPA.... Read 145 reviews

Sophomore: Pioneer is one of the best schools I’ve been to. The people are very nice and the teachers are kind and helpful. Everyone there wants to help you succeed. There are many different career courses you can take and a wide range of other electives as well. There are so many different types of sports and art electives. The level of classes you can take is also pretty wide. They not only help raise your rank but also help cover your college basics as well. Senior: As a student of Idea McAllen, I have enjoyed my time here ever since I entered. I have been at this school since I was 7 years old (2nd-12th grade) and I have truly seen the change the school has gone through. I have grown to see teachers turn into admin, administrators get promoted to principles, and best of all, I have seen my peers grow and prosper throughout their academic journeys. Although in recent years the school has underwent vast changes in administration and culture, the school still continues to strive to promote its identity as "Tigers" and personally this identity will always resonate with me for the rest of my life. However, this school is far from perfect. The school houses the IB Curriculum, which ultimately helps the students that want to participate and earn college credits but a large majority of students choose not to fully take advantage of the opportunity.
