From The Oakridge School

Why Oakridge? That is not a simple answer. Some may say it has to do with our academics, small class sizes, 100 percent of our graduates attend college, or the remarkable percentage of National Merit Scholars and Finalists. Others will say it is because of our impressive fine arts program and the opportunities to sing at Carnegie Hall or participate in a musical with a student-created set and accompanied by an orchestra. Still others will say that it has to do with our athletic program in which all students get to participate in the sport (or sports) of their choice, and where former professional athletes begin to develop fundamentals with our youngest Owls, as well as coach our oldest ones, too. Almost everyone in our community would say why they chose (and what they love about) Oakridge is intangible. It's that feeling of family, community, and support you get when you're on our campus. Come and feel for yourself. Let us know when you're ready. We can't wait to meet you!

The Oakridge School is a highly successful college preparatory school. Oakridge provides an excellent academic environment through innovative teaching and technology. The faculty and staff are caring, nurturing people who want the best for our children. This alone is why Oakridge is so successful. A great environment for our kids to learn and grow. Not a bad school, but also isn't the best private school in the area. Most of the teachers here are great and a few are outstanding. There are a few that are absolutely abysmal, but they are outliers. Strength of the school is probably the humanities department; students are very well rounded and are generally strong writers and readers, though some are exceptional. The teachers in the department of humanities are (for the most part) excellent teachers. The STEM department has some very intelligent teachers though there is nothing special in terms of facility or curriculum. This critique seems to apply to all of Oakridge: strong and straight forward, but nothing special. Sports and arts are average, neither poor or good as no one is going to here for sports or arts. They simply exist and they function. While this may seem like alot of negativity, the school does a good job of getting their students into colleges and all students are sent off to colleges in little neat pretty packages.
Our kid has gone there for 4 years now and she has some great friends and has some excellent teachers. However, I believe the tuition is extremely to high for the lack of facilities, technology, and sports. Also everything is a cost and they are constantly asking for donations year round when 2nd grade tution is $20k come on. I have personally felt the indifference with interactions particular with administrative staff and I believe it is because of being a minority both economically and racially. Since we are not huge donors I get the look of scum or the fake hey how are you type of conversation. I would be very interested in a financial audit. Aside from not being the upper echelon economically the parents, students, and sense of family at the school is definitely there. Overall good school you can have these negatives at any school public or private, but this school is extremely over priced when there are plenty of schools rank higher and much more affordable.
