Ive attended Idea Mcallen College Preparatory since its initial opening in 2014. Ever since ive been here the atmosphere has been nothing short of rigourous and encouraging. Its full of counselors that push you and wish to see you succeed in all aspects of life, especially in school. The curriculums are tough, but the teachers themselves understand that, and they help with time management, and assignment management. The student body is also very welcoming! Overall my entire school experience from K-12th grade has proved to be amazing. I would definitely send my children to this school in the future, and if i had to do highschool again, i would never do it anywhere else!
What I did enjoy about the idea experience was the environment the school created from the moment you step foot into the school you are greeted by teachers and staff. The best part of this experience was that it felt very professional, once the class started, we would be told to write down our homework on our planners to ensure that we wouldn't forget to do it. What I enjoyed a lot was that they provided the planners for us to be successful. From the start we are taught about the core values which were what brought most of the school together. Having strong core values for students was a must and something that i still remember and still use to this day. The only negative thing i have to say is that as you move up by grades lunch time gets cut in half and the recess time is taken away, this removal of recess time felt as if we had no time to cool down after long hours of class it felt as if we they were trying to get us back in the classes too fast. overall though it's a great school
A great school that offers every scholar the opportunity to challenge themselves in AP and IB courses. The school pays for all of the Exams, Courses, and ACT tests (on certain dates). Awesome teachers and principal!
