South Texas ISD health Professions is great for exposure to the medical field. The school provides amazing technology medical equipment that allows us to get real-life like experience. However my main issue is not within the education it’s within the administration. There has been numerous times where parents have complained about being treated unfairly, my mother included. Many students also complain about being treated this way. There is a huge lack of parent involvement within the school due to this. I also feel limited to being creative being here since many clubs have been eliminated if they have nothing to do with high academic achievements such as HOSA. This school does not provide enough space for students to try out new creative capabilities. I hope the following incoming classes get provided with clubs. This can benefit them to increase their sense of engagement or attachment to this high academic pressuring school. It can actually decrease the percentage of school failure.
I have been going to South Texas ISD Health Professions since my Freshman year of High school. I have built so many friendships and relationships. They have the most amazing daily schedules, so I am never overwhelmed or overworked. They have no school uniform policy which really lets students express who they are and allow students to have religious freedom in their style of clothing. The teachers are very involved in the students education!
I am currently a freshman in South Texas High School for Health Professions also called Med-High. I am attracted to schools that are concentrated on teaching kids about medicine and healthcare. I am not disappointed with the choice I made of moving to Med-High because of the opportunities that they offer. Students acquire great skills like CPR, first aid, and stop the bleed. Not only that but students learn anatomy of the human body, different medications, medical terminology, and how to properly dress for a healthcare facility. Med-High is not only an amazing school but it also prepares students for college. Putting aside all of the academics, Med-High is a diverse school that is full of very helpful teachers and administrators. It is full of many different extracurriculars and activities for everyone. Making Med-High your choice of high school will definitely be a choice that you won’t regret!
