Orchard View High School Reviews

I recently graduated from OV and I feel as if my education was lacking something. While the faculty and facilities were amazing and I loved the community that raised me. I coasted by school for many of my years and wasn’t met with a real challenge until my senior year, in which I was in one of the two AP classes my school offered.
I also feel as if the lack of AP also put me at a disadvantage when applying for colleges as I was put behind all of my peers whom I was competing for enrollment with. And while I’m genuinely grateful and love the school I came from, I do feel academics could step up.

While Orchard View did meet my educational needs, I felt like it was lacking in quite a few aspects. I did not feel that the content was very engaging - it felt like a brick wall of information to study and memorize. Additionally, the honors program is, in my opinion, not well structured, as it keeps a group of students together in all core classes for most of middle and high school - leading to a severe lack of opportunities to socialize with anybody not in that group. Overall, Orchard View is a functional school, but it didn't make me feel like the many different ways a student could best learn were considered, only one or two options. This in combination with the lack of socialization as a result of having almost no common ground with anybody in the honors group made me feel isolated from the school, and made me want to actively avoid participating in things such as 'school spirit' events.
I really enjoyed my time at Orchardview. It wasn’t necessarily the curriculum that I was overjoyed over but the staff and some students. Homework was easy to grasp and you really didn’t need to put a whole bunch to succeed,!but that isn’t the whole of an experience nor will it be the main topic. For a school to be an incredible experience the environment must be just that, Incredible. Honestly speaking they did a great job. Staff is adamant about keeping their image as positive as ever. The LGBTQ community and all are welcome here. You won’t be ridiculed for your differences or values and I for one enjoy that. As a student I was constantly told how excellent I was and how amazing I would be in the future. Now this is definitely not the experience I know everyone will have, but trust me, here it’s easier to put in the work and take the compliments
