As the first to go away to college in my family, choosing GVSU made it a lot easier to transition to the change of lifestyle. There were so many different scholarship opportunities that made the financial aspect of college a lot less scary. College in general can honestly be very difficult especially with making adjustments with roommates, friend groups, grades, social life etc. The thing that I liked most about GVSU was everything was very easily understood and the whole "college process" was made very easy especially as an individual who nobody in my family has ever gone away to college! The whole environment here in Allendale is so extremely welcoming and fun, and they have a great selection of professors who teach because they care about your education!
My experience so far at Grand Valley State University has been good! I came in as a freshman this year and loved that everyone was welcoming. Even though it is a pretty big campus I enjoy the walks I can take from destination to destination. Everywhere you turn there is a new person you haven't seen before and I like that! Unless you have a class with the same people, you don't really see them outside of that one class. Something that I think could change about GVSU is that I feel like there should be more freshman activities to get all of the incoming freshmen to interact and kind of be in one space. I know that may be hard since there might be a lot of incoming freshmen but it's the thought that counts. There aren't a lot of concerns I have about GVSU. It is a really great school, and the classes so far have been good. I hate the walking distance to get food but it's worth it. The good cafeteria food is a long walk from my dorm building which is frustrating.
Hello, my name is Jaylin Scott. I was there for 2 semesters, I left earlier than expected because of personal reasons. However, Grand Valley State University is an amazing university. They supply the students with so much help to try and help them achieve their best academic performance. The professors were so understanding and willing to help you whenever needed. The campus is also unbelievable, the campus is bigger than you expect with so much to offer. The dorms are really nice as well. It is just all in all a spectacular university. I would recommend this university in a heartbeat, do not miss the chance to go there if you get it!
