Alum: I love this school. The small amount of students allows the teachers to spend quality time with their students and get to know them better. The staff are friendly and I love the small town feel this school has. I changed schools a lot in middle school but when I started school here I felt at home. Freshman: Mat-su Career & Tech is a pretty alright school. The teachers are all very nice, the curriculum is good, there isn't too many fights, but I should say that the people are not what I expected; it is a lot more conservative than I thought it would be, especially with the freshman. My main complaint with the school other than the freshman is the no sports thing, if I were to do sports I would have to go to a different school right after normal school ends, which isn't possible for a lot of people who can't get picked up by a parent or guardian.... Works Here: Burchell is an alternative school that is trauma informed and provides resources for students that are not up to standard in their credit requirements or who need a smaller environment to help promote necessary learning that each individual student needs. They have an afterschool program that allows students to earn up to 2 credits a year, promoting early graduation for those who would like to finish quicker or allows students to make up credits they are deficient in for graduation requirements. The staff is hands on in the students education and use trauma informed teaching to benefit each individual student that walks through their door.
