I liked the opportunities the school offered. There is a lot of activities to explore, like an extensive computer program, lots of music, sports, and art. I really enjoyed those things, and I also enjoyed the AP classes. The one thing I really disliked was the atmosphere. There is a lack of discipline that completely undermines the schools' rules. It is a chaotic disaster as far as controlling classrooms and enforcing rules. There are some teachers that work very hard and try to make a difference, but support for programs and the students are hard to find.
Colony High School is a very mediocre school, they have cut out many of their language classes, their counselors are almost impossible to meet with as when you want to schedule a meeting with them the people you talk to first end up telling you to just work harder. The teachers don’t care about their struggling students and just assume that the student is lazy if they end up falling behind. I really wish the school was more actively trying to help their students, many people end up transferring to
Burchell or Valley Pathways from Colony if they are struggling. Colony does not acknowledge that many students struggle with disorders such as depression and anxiety and they may struggle to keep their grades up once they start slipping.
