Parent: This is a great little school. While they do lack in afterschool programs and sports, they do partner with a larger Christian school in the area that is nationally ranked in various sports. I love the fact that my student can participate in high level sports, yet be in a classroom with a 5:1 student to teacher ratio. Best of both worlds! I highly recommend this school.... Junior: At Christ Chapel Academy, students are met with understanding teachers that want to see their students succeed. Consequently, the administration of Christ Chapel Academy is clear in their communication with the students. However, on the negative side, the building itself needs several updates, but in recent years, this has not gone unnoticed: The indoor gym, the outdoor sports field, and the outdoor playgrounds have been greatly improved. Senior: Covenant Life School has been a super great experience for me as a high schooler. I feel that it has greatly equipped me for college, and my peers are kind and intelligent. The teachers work very hard to make sure each and every student not only understands the material but also excels in their interests and in academics. I would like to see the school hire a professional calculus teacher, as I took calculus in my senior year with an unqualified teacher who has a math degree but not a teaching degree. Additionally, I would like to see the administration improve at releasing information regarding students and events more promptly, and as the student body president, I would like to see the student government taking a more active role in the school’s decision making versus just running events. Alum: My overall experience was very informative and enlightening. I went to Southern Maryland Christian Academy from the grades of fourth to senior year, and I have seen how the students behave, how the teachers interact, with the students and each other, and how the dean of students and of academics conduct themselves. I am pleased to say that the environment is friendly and promotes learning for the students enrolled in the school. The teachers are very good at their job and make a special connection with the students that lets them feel like they can be talked to and that they are understood. Even as an alum I feel that I can go back and talk with the teachers of the school about how school is currently going, how life in general is going, and many other things. The school itself is not very big so the community is tight and everyone knows each other. Junior: My experience at Grace Brethren has been a wild ride. I began attending the school nearly 13 years ago back in k-4, and since then it has been the only school I have ever attended. Some of the best experiences I have had at Grace were my younger years with my 8th grade class, before covid-19, and my time as a member of the varsity soccer team. The worst part of my time at Grace had to be eating the school lunch back in second grade, which caused me to throw up. The only thing comparable to this moment would probably be when the teachers fail to truly teach me anything; sometimes I would go nearly half a year without learning anything new and that was never a good time.... Parent: This marks our first year at Word of Life, and we are absolutely thrilled with the exceptional education our child is receiving in 1st Grade. He is currently enrolled in Ms. Oliver's class, and we couldn't be happier with her impact on his progress. Ms. Oliver has truly transformed our child's reading capabilities from being shy and uncertain to being confident and enthusiastic. He now enjoys reading for fun every night. Additionally, she has instilled a newfound sense of pride and confidence in his cursive writing through her encouragement and guidance. Ms. Oliver maintains a Christ-centered and loving atmosphere in her classroom while instilling a strong work ethic within her students. We are grateful for her daily encouragement of each child to pray and for the time dedicated to this practice each morning. Parent: Great environment! Loving and caring teachers and staff. Our children are seen and loved. The principal is very approachable and knows each students needs and has good communication with teachers. They really work as a team to provide the best educational experience for the students. As for the community, it is very diverse and welcoming to new families. The only thing I wish the school had is a green area where students had contact with nature during recess. Otherwise, facilities are great, spaces are bright, neat, colorful, and very appropriate for kids. Playground is a hit! Last, but not least, ACE excels giving the Christian foundation in education. Bible is a subject, not a side activity. And in every other subject the Godly perspective is incorporated, as lessons end up with a message about how can we apply what we learned in our Christian life, or why did God created thing this way, etc. So far, we are so happy we chose ACE for our three girls. Parent: We love this gem of a school! Providence is focused on raising good citizens, while tying everything holistically back to Christ. We have been very impressed with the teachers, administration, and the new head of school. The school has also navigated the challenges of the pandemic beautifully and communicated transparently. The school has grown quite a bit since COVID, but seems committed to maintaining the small class sizes and tight-knit community feel that drew us here in the first place! Parent: Highland Park is OUTSTANDING. This school is very well run and maintains high standards. Principal Wright has high expectations for all ambassadors, teachers, staff, and parents. As a parent, I feel informed, valued, and respected. She knows every child’s name and maintains a visible and active presence. I am able to view my child’s daily lesson plans and progress through the online portal. My daughter is in PreK 3 in Mrs. Young’s class and she is an exceptional educator. Mrs. Young has a very well managed classroom where it is clear that children understand expectations and are happy to learn. Her behavior management skills are extraordinary. Mrs. Young’s classroom is motivating and inspiring. My daughter has excelled tremendously since attending Highland Park. The preschool coordinator, Ms. Brooks is responsive, involved, and cares about the students. My daughter loves going to school. She also loves the school lunch. The menu is healthy and delicious....
