Graduate Student: Being at Randolph Community College, although it was a community college it was a very diverse campus where professors were all teaching an accurate amount for the specific curriculum. I really appreciated the availability of the professors and how they understood that sometimes it's okay to stay on a specific part in the course if it's not understood the first time. They were all very aware and made sure their students okay not even if it was about class but about our mentality. Freshman: Wayne Community is a good college and the staff/faculty members are great. At the college they teach very well and are determined to get the lesson taught. I like how the professors are always helping me in my times of need and don’t discard me. Something that I would like to change at the college is the atmosphere, at most community colleges you don’t get the full experience as other colleges and don’t get many options to tend to. I would like for Wayne Community to have more eating stations for the students when they are hungry instead of two booths which include Starbucks and a cafe spot. Junior: Blue Ridge Community College a great school that offers many classes to help you transfer. It's a better option for lower cost and small classes for students to learn with teachers and their peers. Blue Ridge CC was my first ever college. It was an easier transition for me after waiting a couple years to join after finishing high school. I really like the atmosphere that Blue Ridge provides and how the faculty is alwasy willing to help. Students are also heplful, it gives a sense of community. Counslers and advisers are great! Most of the time they are well informed on certain question or situations one may encounter. I really recommend Blue Ridge CC because they can work around your schedule! From online to in-person classes. They provide afternoon classes for those who are parents and work full-time jobs. Freshman: I've had a good experience with Craven Community College. Other than not having my chosen career program, the courses and professors are amazing. I enrolled as a dual enrolment student back in 2021 while i was still in high school and i took some simple online classes that really helped me in the long run with my program. although i am not in my program, there is a checklist of certain courses i need to apply and I've had a really good experience with the science classes. Being in person for the classes at Craven is eye opening, the online classes just give you mainly busy work to do over the time period of a week. Sophomore: Ever since I joined though Burke Middle College, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Western Piedmont. The staff have always been kind and supportive, always helping me with questions and concerns. The academic success center has wonderful tutors who really helped me through some tough courses like physics and calculus. Freshman: I absolutely LOVE Davidson-Davie Community College (DDCC)! My teachers have been phenomenal and have always gone the extra mile to make sure all students understand the material and can do it independently. Though we don't have many food options on campus at all, (we only have one and they close super early) the ladies in the Storm Cellar are great as well the food is affordable and is gotten out very quickly. Freshman: Cape Fear is a college that is dedicated to help students succeed. I have had nothing but great experiences from faculty and teachers alike. I feel they give a tremendous amount of support to their students and I am honored to be getting my associates transfer degree with them. From the first day when I registered until now starting my second semester, I have felt supported and encouraged by everyone at this college. There are so many resources that are available and more importantly, easily accessed for students. They offer support in every form from food to therapy to tutoring. There is support for students, no matter where you turn. The campus is also beautiful. It looks more like a four year college campus rather than a Community College. Sophomore: I have truly enjoyed my time at Sandhills and have loved most of my teachers. I love how small the classes are and that you get one-on-one with teachers if you need extra help. I had to take all my classes online my first year and even that experience was great. The online teachers still make those classes interactive and it pushes you to learn. Some teachers can be hard to deal with but I feel as though that is inevitable at any college. There are plenty of activities to do on campus and lots of sports to go and see. However, I have not made any friends on campus. I have found that Sandhills is very clicky when it comes to friend groups and most students that go there seem as though they just want to go home and never have experiences. Due to this, there is a lack of study groups. It is rare to find people that truly want to learn. Works Here: I love how the college helps its students out whenever they need any assistance. they have resources to help you out like tutoring and they also have programs that help inspire you to do more and even help out your community like the TRIO program or the PTK. I am member of both of these programs and i got to say they have helped me to better myself and take my education more seriously. I would like to see them be more selective in which courses transfer from other colleges and universities for credit. Freshman: The transition from highschool to college can be quite the leap. I am honored to say that so far, this transition has been a smooth one for me.
