Junior: Clemson University's campus is full of resources, from the organic student garden, to on-site mental health counselors and academic advisors, and even including multiple recreational facilities and sports complexes. Honestly, it is the most well-rounded college campus that I have ever attended/toured, and you can tell they have a focus on the student experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the class sizes-- most of mine were under 30 students-- as well as the faculty to student ratio. I prefer a more personal approach to learning and it was nice that most of my professors knew me by name this last semester. There are only a couple points that beckon change, and one of them is the parking situation. You can circle the lots for up to 20 minutes before you find a spot most days, and the availability of commuter parking is more or less constricted to two large lots, one of which is a good walk away from the academic buildings. Junior: I started my college years during the covid pandemic. It was hard to adjust, the class of 2024 did not experience the typical freshman college experience. With all of this going on, my years here at LSU have been great! The campus is beautiful, and for the 2021-22 school year, I was able to get the college experience I missed during my freshman year. My pro's & con's center on 2 topics: Quality mentorship: The primary reason I came to CH is because of the quality mentorship from faculty & staff. Compared to my previous experiences, this school offered the perfect combination of expertise in what I hoped to learn along with supportive mentors. An area for growth is the lack of regular advising in the 3-year MSW Program. Senior: The University of Southern California is full of opportunities and activities for students with a wide range of interests. It caters to multiple students and does a great job at making sure everyone feels at home and welcome. I love the diversity of the clubs that are available to join on campus and I also love how the "Trojan Family" lives on in everyone. One thing that I would like to see change is the transparency that is given to students when it comes to the Undergraduate Student Government, especially in terms of funding for organizations. Alum: UConn overall was a good experience, however I think the transition through COVID-19 could have been handled better. The school's stringent social distancing policies had a grave impact on the mental health of the student body and left very few opportunities to immerse oneself in the Husky culture. This sudden shift in student living as well as the majority of classes being conducted online should have resulted in a noticeable decrease in tuition, but this was, unfortunately, not the case. Sophomore: Overall, my first year was very successful. I met amazing people, joined exciting clubs, and was excited about some of my classes. Even though the atmosphere is big and sometimes overwhelming; I quickly found it comfortable when I found my niche of people and activities. I would like to see actions following Ohio State's diversity claim. I remember there was white supremacist incident were inappropriate language was painted somewhere and Ohio State emailed everyone saying how wrong this was. Alum: I attended Florida State University from 2019-2022, completing my degree in three years. I found that this was an amazing school with many opportunities and organizations which I participated in. My freshman year, I joined a sorority on campus and lived in the house for two years too! This was a great way to get involved and do some community service as well as meeting many new friends. I also learned a lot of leadership skills from being in my sorority. I also studied abroad with FSU International Programs. I went to Florence, Italy and it was truly an unforgettable experience. It was an excellent way to see what I had learned minoring in art history in action and in-person finally after so many years! Junior: Michigan State is the best choice I’ve ever made. I’m proud to attend this school, where there are amazing people, many opportunities, and so far I’ve really enjoyed my classes. I met one of my closest best friends here, someone I know I’ll be friends with for the rest of my life. Our school’s pride in the athletics program brings excitement and joy every game day, bringing everyone closer together. Unfortunately, we recently went through a tragedy in February. Senior: Miami has been a great place the past few years for me. As a transfer student, coming in not knowing anyone, I have met many types of different students from hard working backgrounds. The professors are very much committed to getting to know everyone in their class, and not just going through the motions as a mundane robot you see at some larger schools. In my experience the average class size outside of your one or two 100 level class is between 5-30 students. The campus is beautiful. Everywhere you look is palm trees and clear skies (with the exception of your occasional rain shower) the university does a nice job maintaining the buildings and surrounding vegetation. Food wise the options aren’t the greatest. In the past few years there has been an attempt to bring in healthier options, but for the most part the dinning hall and food court include your average Starbucks, subway, panda, so on and forth. Alum: North Dakota State University was some of the best experiences I have had in my life. This includes academics such as internships as well as extracurriculars. There was always something going on during the week and on the weekends to get you involved in the NDSU community or the Fargo community at large. When I got in to my major, my classes became more focused and smaller so that I was better able to focus and be more comfortable in class.
