As a California native, I did consider the rain as a factor in my school selection process. My biggest piece of advice is try new things, join clubs, and meet people at the start of your college career. It is easy to work with the weather when you have a network of friends around you. While many campus resources were available to me, specifically through my college department, some overall OSU resources were lacking. The healthcare department for instance needs improvement, and I know this is something they are working on. Freshman: I love it, it is an amazing college and they are the best at answering any questions you have or anything you need help with. It is amazing with the online experience and classes it's so easy to access your student account and makes it a lot easier when your busy with home life work and school of course. Sophomore: Liberty is better than I could have imagined. Beginning with the tour my family and I went on during my senior year of high school, you could tell the people on campus really care about the students and want what's best for them. all of this was further confirmed my first year on campus. Sophomore: Overall the online academics program is phenomenal! The pace of information is a bit fast paced with semesters split into two terms but canvas and professors excel in ensuring students have a clear agenda and objectives. I have interacted with professors and department leads that I now see as role models or mentors. Alum: I attended the Ridgeland Campus of Holmes Community College. The main campus is located about 45 minutes away in Goodman, Mississippi. Holmes in Ridgeland is a great school. The teachers and employees at the school seem genuinely happy to be working with students of all ages and backgrounds. There is an array of different education opportunities, including trades, provided at the college. Scholarships as well as work-based learning opportunities are available for students, whether first-time or non-traditional. The cafeteria is well-stocked with both hot and cold food options available morning and afternoon. There are vending machines in each building. The campus is beautiful and well maintained. There is landscaping and sidewalks throughout. The offices are easy to find and staffed fully. The professors offer normal office hours and seem to be willing to help. Senior: As far as the cost, it is actually more affordable than most schools. There are tons of clubs and activities that anyone and everyone can join. Although there is Greek life on campus, it is very very different than it is like at other campuses. This is the same with sports as well. Classes are amazing, and their online system makes it easy to enroll in classes without necessarily having to visit your advisor every time. As far as professors, some are great and some are just awful. I have had a couple teachers go out of their way to help me with certain questions and assignments and I will also remember them. However, I also remember the couple of professors that honestly just did not care, and myself and many other students always had the worst scores in their classes compared to classes with other professors. Junior: Martin Luther College is a smaller university located in the small town New Ulm, MN. Sophomore: Florida Gateway College is a great school! There are so many activities and options open for a student. There are always events going on and the professor comes to the activities, even when they start during your class time. The professors are great teachers, in the short amount of time you get with them, you get to them know them and they get to know you. There is associability between the library, student center, and student success center. You can study, do homework, find tutors, and even make new friends! Florida Gateway is a wonderful public college that I have enjoyed, the advisors are so friendly and helpful.
