As a senior at Suncoast Polytechnical High School, I can confidently recommend this school to any incoming high school freshman. Polytech is a small environment with a maximum of 600 students. This fosters an environment that encourages close peer relationships and closer relationships with teachers and counselors. Being close to my teachers and counselors has allowed me to succeed on the pathway that I chose for myself to prepare myself for college. Polytech also provided me with the opportunity to begin my nursing career education in 9th grade as the high school is connected to Suncoast Technical College (STC). I have been dual enrolling at STC since freshman year and I am now about to graduate as a Licensed Practical Nurse as an 18-year-old. Polytech has pushed me and other students to succeed in our educational journeys and strive for the highest academic accomplishments possible. I haven't had any bad experiences at Polytech which goes to show just how good this school really is.
My daughter has been in the Schools animation and game design program for three years. The personalized nature of the program and amazing dedication of the teachers has been life-changing for her. The facilities and equipment are above average for high school. The concentration in the specific area of study has prepared her for college. Administration is for the most part. Very responsive. Building is new comfortable and extremely safe feeling.
I am a parent of a gifted child who has gone to the school since his freshman year he’s now going to be a senior. We specifically picked this high school because they promised he could fast tracked and start doing college classes. However, the principal nor the counselors wanted to help us get him into college classes, the principal canceled our meeting the same day, claiming false accusations, that he had a “meeting pop up”. This was four months after my son started the process of switching from high school classes to college classes and the principal still put him off .This is a school that promotes high school kids taking college Courses but nothing to help these kids take college classes. This is basically a for-profit high school that only wants the kids to stay in a CTE, which does nothing for them for their future only prepping them to go to THEIR college. If your child is gifted, they in no way will help your child get ahead. I don’t recommend the school to anyone.
My daughter attended for her junior and senior years. Suncoast is a nice school. A bit smaller which was very nice. The career technical education is very good although in our experience the teacher involvement / support for our daughter was less than ideal. Overall, it is a very good school though.
My school has a lot of advantages, and the main ones stem from its CTE program. The CTE program is a unique chance to further your skills and understanding of a topic before going to college. You can also learn a trade during high school, giving you a career directly out of graduation. I also enjoy the college style schedule with 4 periods a day, 90 minutes a class. With these 90 minutes I can fully grasp a subject and understand it fully without being cut off by the bell. Polytech's only drawback is its lack of sports and clubs, only featuring a robotics club and chess club.
What i liked about Polytech is that it is a small school so those who don't like big schools can be more comfortable learning here. Also the school schedule runs on a block schedule which i found very useful in learning, focusing, working on work much easy.
Nice school, offers CTES to prepare you and see if you want to do that job in the future. Good teachers but could be a little better system wise.
SPHS has been a wonderful place to learn and to grow alongside my fellow classmates. This school provides a multitude of opportunities and pathways for students. I have a lot of fun at my school and will be sad to leave once I graduate.
Suncoast Polytech is very good at helping students prepare for college or their future career. It is very heavily focused on academics, and the students are very committed to their education. However, there are no sports or arts opportunities. In their junior year, students are given the chance to dual enroll in the college next door, which can be good for furthering your career.
Suncoast Polytech has various career paths that are more focused for students but often fall short having any certification value. The nursing program is by far worth the most at the school. Admin is understaffed the majority of the time cuasing problems to arise. They follow the AP Capstone diploma program which is more useful than the CTE certifications.
SPHS is great! Teachers are understanding, and everyone kind of minds their business here. Drama is minimal. The principal is very kind and understanding. Overall cool experience! Glad I was accepted into this school.
At Suncoast polytechnic high school, it has been an amazing four years. I have learned so much and opened up as a person. I have had some amazing teachers and their always so rewarding for your hard work. The admin and teachers are always on you making sure your doing your best. I would say my high school experience has been amazing.
I enjoy this school a lot. I appreciate how small it is and it gives better chances to connect with the teachers. I feel as if the faculty cares.
Great school for academics, good community. Not many options for clubs, and it doesn’t offer sports teams although you can join up with other schools teams while enrolled in polytech.
I have been going to suncoast polytechnical high school since 9th grade I am currently a senior. I enjoyed going to this school because it is a small school and there is a lot more 1 on 1 with the teacher. I love that is is a block scheduling school.
The high school is an overall positive experience and most of the teachers are generally agreeable. Every year the school improves by a large degree some in time I'm certain it will be a 5 star experience. Very technology and disability friendly school.
I think that this school is so good because it involves you with real-life hands-on education. This school is very good for getting into careers.
So far, a majority of the classes and teachers have been pretty good, at least compared to my old middle school. The CTE and programs here are pretty cool as well.
If your child wants to go to college and not a tech school or directly into the workforce this isn’t the high school for them.
They do 0 college prep work and the classes barely teach basics.
They gear all training towards tech school and jobs not college
They allow kids to sleep in class without waking them
They allow multiple kids of both sexes in a single person bathroom without any concern
They allow assignments to be turned in weeks late with no repercussions.
The guidance counselors never return phone calls
There is not act/sat prep so the children aren’t even able to achieve scores able to get them into college.
The level of education severely lacks versus the traditional schools nearby. Such as a junior barely able to do algebra 2 math.
They do not enforce a dress code so it results in a lot of inappropriate attire.
This school is where all the misfits kids come together to hangout and chat not learn. They do not have concerns about education, future, college. Etc

It’s an average small school. The best part about the school is the ability to dual enroll in the college next door.
