As an intern, former student, and long time volunteer for Sarasota County Schools I find that the quality of education and resources that are provided to students are above average from what you find in Florida. I know several parents that have moved to Sarasota from neighboring counties to take advantage of these schools. I have worked with the autism program within Sarasota County Schools, and can say If you have a special needs child the accommodations provided are fantastic. However, like most schools in Florida and all across the USA Sarasota County Schools has become more and more centered around standardized testing; and the increasing bureaucracy, financial cuts, and testing standards has made it more difficult for these schools to perform as well
Review Sarasota County Schools
Riverview High School offers the typical high school experience at a new, state of the art, beautiful building in sunny Sarasota. The demographic of students ranges widely enough that we are an eclectic group of growing individuals with opportunities like not many other high schools offer: we have a unique music program that is prioritized, an amazing art program that has made many graduates into successful artists, a thriving athletics program, and the prestigious IB Program that prepares those ready to take on a rigorous academic journey.
I have been a student in the Sarasota County School system for around 5 years. From my start at Booker Middle School, to my transfer to Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences, all the way to my high school experience at Sarasota Military Academy, this county sure does offer a lot of educational options to its residents and their children. There is a school designed for every individual learner. Future math legends, crowd-pleasing musicians, paint-savvy artists, gifted citizens, military enlists and engineers all find their place within Sarasota County.
