My experience has been both as a customer, and as an employee. As a customer, I would be greeted and notified of the great sales. They did their best to direct me to my interests. Years later, I would end up working for Zale Corp., as a jewelry consultant. I remember as a first-time employee, I was unsure if I were to be placed in selling diamonds right away. However, the management had me work my way through the various levels. Before I knew it, I was selling Celebration Diamonds in just a short two months! I was proud that my fellow coworkers and managers had allowed me that space in those months to learn side-by-side on selling top-tier jewelry. It was the first time in my young life that I was able to learn what a quota was. I found that making my monthly quota was exciting and I became very competitive each month against my previous records. I have always had great experiences with Zales and will always be a customer!
I love working there, the coworkers are friendly and fun. The job is amazing. I love helping people find the perfect engagement ring for their other half.
The amount of pressure to oversell, even if it caused the guests to buy outside of their budget, was detrimental to the happiness of the employees in the stores. I don't know a single employee who loved their job. As far as other commission sales are concerned, it is a better option than most.
