Windstream is a good starter job. Pay is very stagnant once you are hired on with little room for promotion or raises. Annual raises (if we have any) are normally around 1%. I strongly dislike the insecurity of working for Windstream as the company does layoffs roughly every two months. Most managers aren't transparent with metrics so you have no idea if you are on the chopping block. The best thing about the company is that you get Telecom industry experience that makes you a more hireable employee to other companies. If you take a job at Windstream, get as many promotions as you can and leave the company in about 2-3 years to get a resume boost. Windstream isn't loyal to its employees, so don't be loyal to Windstream.
I have worked here for over 10 years, the pay increases have been pretty much non-existent for the last 5 years. Most days you feel like a number but I love my boss and co-workers. Overworked and underpaid is kind of the motto lately.
I’ve had good experience this far. The work/ life balance has been great. They also have a great leadership program that helps guide accounting and finance new hires throughout their careers at Windstream.
