Honestly, I worked here for about 3 months at the beginning of my junior year. It is definitely a lot for a high school student, but I think for an entry level adult worker it is definitely manageable. I worked there when they were paying $13 an hour, but now they offer $15! As soon as you learn the basics about food and drink working in the deli/beverage area, it isn't hard to do. The customers will usually suck, and the rushes are like NO other, but it was a fun experience especially due to my coworkers. Wawa usually hires very kind people, and the ones at my store in Venice, Florida were the best to me. I am forever grateful for them. The only thing that really sucked is that you had to ask for days off a month in advance, which completely didn't work for me because I frequently had school things such as SAT testing that I didn't know about until a couple weeks beforehand.
There is a love/ hate relationship with this company, at least for me. Wawa has great benefits, tuition assistance, and PTO. Management is 50/50, some care about their employees, and others don't. The rotation of managers can make the workplace feel on edge. They have many growth opportunities if you see a career through Wawa and with the right management to help you, it is a great experience. Unfortunately, I never received that help and had to train myself. Overall, it is okay but, it isn't terrible, unlike other convenience stores/ fast food restaurants.
Wawa is the best place to work. I am the assistant general manager of Wawa in Middletown, Delaware. Wawa is a place that guests can come in and enjoy the excellent customer service and products that Wawa provides. My employees and coworkers are my family. My family is in Bangor, Maine, my hometown. I'm very grateful to have a family here, in Delaware while I am attending college. Wawa does so much for the community and even their employees. Our store just adopted two families for Christmas and we were able to provide these families with gifts for Christmas, as they were unable to. I am also home, in Maine, with my family for the holidays for two weeks. Wawa made this possible. I wouldn't want to work anywhere else! I also get free, unlimited coffee every day!
