Virginia Mason Medical Center Reviews
Rating 4.29 out of 5 21 reviews
I started working here in January this year and have completely loved it so far! Hours are very stable and clear. I am able to make up hours if I need some time off but don't want to miss out on income which I had never had before. I have never had such good medical insurance through a company. The general atmosphere is extremely friendly, kind, warm, welcoming and helpful. I love my coworkers and we work great as a team. My supervisor is hands on and very attentive and fair. The location is a 25 minute walk for me which is great to get some steps in and fresh air.
The overall experience is good. There are ups and downs, and the department I work in can be pretty high stress. There is a lot of turnover in staff and it can be difficult to cope with that. Not a lot of growth opportunities, depending on your career path. The company was recently bought out by a Christian based health system, and while they say changes won't be made to our current system to align with the Christian based morels, based on other health systems being bought out by faith-based health systems the staff knows this not to be true, and it will be an uphill battle when it comes to certain areas such as women's health and death with dignity. I know if I will be able to continue to work for an employer that is a faith-based healthcare system and doesn't align with my personal morals.
I absolutely enjoy working at VM I’ve been able to grow as PCT and learn new skills within my scope of practice. I love the nursing management and they’re always willing to listen to you and your concerns. Management is willing to make improvements when necessary to help the nursing unit grow and create a positive work environment. The floor staff strongly believes in working together to get the job done while maintaining staff and patient safety. I hope to continue my growth with Virginia Mason once I’m finished with nursing school.
