Virginia Department of Social Services Reviews
Local VDSS agencies consist of mostly skilled workers, but pay and workloads tend to lead to frequent turnovers at some agencies. Some members of management feel that they are above maintaining a caseload, and they continue to pile work on to others while they do nothing. Some agencies and employees want to work together and some don't. My agency is good at getting along with one another, but the pay is lower than the work output, and there haven't been many opportunities for advancement or recognition.
I enjoy working for an agency that serves the public. The location is also ideal to my home. I also enjoy most of my co-workers.
