I learned a lot about security, developed great people and supervisory management skills
There is a ton of education and opportunity. I would change the management too much micromanagement. There needs to be more people who have fresh ideals and not the same things from 30 years ago.

I have mixed feelings about working here. The people are wonderful, however, if you aren't related to someone or best friends with a supervisor, it is not very likely you will ever advance jobs.
Working in the Virginia Department of Corrections has opened many doors for myself. You could start as an officer and end up as the Warden. The pay is excellent for people who are just starting careers or looking for a career change. They also offer education benefits.
