Urban Outfitters Reviews
Rating 4.11 out of 5 47 reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed most of my time working for the company. I spent 1 year at an Urban Outfitters (more quite location than most) and 4 years at an Anthropologie (busy location). The company is every changing and absorbing employee and customer feedback. During my 4 years at Anthro, I saw the company make big strides to provide a safe and comfortable place for people to work. The switch in CEOs of the Anthropologie Group to Tricia Smith proved to be a good decision in my eyes as policies and processes became smoother and more aligned with what employees needed. The few issues for me were needing more payroll (this may have changed in fall of 2022 after I left) and providing policy security when it came to dealing with difficult customers. Some areas had challenging customers that were mean, to be straight forward. Other than that, the environment was mostly fun to work in and my coworkers were very kind and fashion forward.
Working a Urban Outfitters was a unique opportunity and experience because I learned a lot about the fashion industry in which I had interest. I also got to know people that were pretty different from me and that allowed me to have a different perspective and open mind about certain things. Everyone was friendly for the most part. Also the employee discount is usually the best part of working there because you could get high ticket items at the discounted price whenever you wanted to, as well as the discount on sale items as well. The management was ok, they could sometimes be a little overbearing and make employees feel like they were on eggshells. They usually were decent about making a flexible schedule for everyone and if you wanted to work more they would let you.
Urban outfitters is a great company and very fashionable clothing store. My favorite aspects about working at Urban have been my coworkers and an excellent discount. Like any retail job, it comes with its fair share of complaints, but pretty good compared to others. In my store in particular, the managers are fair and nice, but the communication is not there. I also believe better pay (over minimum wage) is in order. Besides that, friendly environment, very excepting, and overall a nice experience.
