My job at UO treats me well in general but I am constantly disappointed by the corporation’s lack of any meaningful civic contribution. Typical fast fashion is unethical, greenwashing in marketing is extremely transparent, its support for charitable causes are negligible compared to the size of the company. It is blatant that Urban’s only priority is profit. Additionally, I tried to get my job back during COVID by emailing my store, but I never received any reply from my boss.
I have overall had an amazing time at Urban Outfitters, they are super flexible with hours and accommodating life events. The environment is super friendly and open with every employee nice and i've met some of my best friends from the company. The store itself changes weekly which gives a fresh star each week with little repetition outside daily tasks. The main reason I have wanted to stay with the company is because of my mangers, they are all amazing women who care about their employees and want the store to succeed and love being there. The benefits for the company is amazing, ranging from discounts and also being able to internally move stores and all of their sister stores employees also get discounts.
I have worked for one of the Urban Brand stores for about a year and a half. This is a second job for me, I work full-time at a non-profit institution during the week. I like working in the fast-paced city-center location of the store and I feel supported my my managers and coworkers. The company uses a randomized schedule generator, so I cannot predict my hours each week, which isn't ideal. However, as long as you are upfront about your scheduling needs, the managers are pretty understanding. I like the brands we carry and the employee discount is generous!
