Transportation Security Administration Reviews
Rating 3.4 out of 5 25 reviews
TSA is a great place to work. Its a great start for someone looking to work for the federal government. Good starting pay. Lots of opportunities for growth. A fun work environment. A well respected career with a great mission to accompany it. Amazing benefits for someone who is single or has a family. A great place to learn very value skills that you can definitely translate to real life. If you like to travel, there's great opportunities to do travel work with TSA. Constant raises. A great way to help America feel safe while traveling and to give back to your community.
The thing I like the most about Transportation Security Administration is the experience I get from it. I don't just call this a job I can call this a career. I can definitely go up the ladder with hard work and integrity. Everyone is so nice in my workplace and I enjoy every bit of it every time I come in for work. The benefits are great as well! The only thing I'd probably like to see change is the flexibility with hours, other than switching hours with another employee you don't really have much freedom with that.
My overall experience has been a positive one with TSA. The pay is very good for the work that we perform. I come from a customer service background so dealing with angry and frustrated passengers was something I did not have to adjust to. I was able to receive a lot of training in effective communication in my years of service with TSA so that has been very beneficial at work and at home. I think the biggest thing that the organization needs to work on is boosting employee morale. The front line officers deal with a lot of issues from the traveling public, such as degrading comments and frustrations being directed towards them. They also must fulfill the goals of the agency and sometimes that is lost with management. They are so focused on achieving the goal that they forget about the well-being of their officers, and that is why employee morale lacks within the agency.
