I work as a pre-op and recovery nurse at a surgery center located in Phoenix, Arizona! I spend a couples of days there per week and feel like a work in a great work environment. The staff is friendly and is always very positive. I feel supported at work and I know I can always go to my manager if I need any help or clarification. I absolutely loved working Tenet cardiovascular office, no complaints! I loved all of my coworkers .and clients. We're friendly and supportive. We all worked as a great team and made sure to get the client's speedy recovery. I must say I learned everything I needed to in medical terminology prior to entering to nursing program.
I started my nursing career at the company. I'm glad I left. Unsafe staff to patient ratios, no relief for lunch or restroom breaks, extremely busy. Management would harass you on days off to work extra and try to guilt-trip employees into working overtime. If you tried to call in sick the AOD would try to guilt you into coming in. The training was not adequate. Management makes you feel like it's like this everywhere you go in nursing. Not true, I now work at an outpatient clinic and could not be happier. I no longer dread going to work. I am grateful for the experience but it was definitely not worth the mental and physical toll it took on my body.
