Working at Target is amazing! They do everything they can to work with your college schedule while giving you the hours you need. Everyday is slightly different which is great since you won’t be stuck doing the same thing day in and day out. They’re also very accommodating with employee schedules and how they work. I have ADD so I can get bored doing a repetitive task really easy, but since it’s retail I can do numerous things until I can go back to my original task. All while still working and helping guests. Basically working out on the sales floor is a ADD/ADHD persons dream job. I’m able to help guests find the items they need by walking them to the item in the store. I can pick up random items off the shelves making the store look nice. Plus if I get bored cleaning up my aisles I’m able to put away the items that get left behind. Allowing me to get all my tasks done and not have my ADD be an issue at work but rather the perfect tool for self-monitoring.
Working here has seriously been a very wonderful experience. Target truly cares about making lasting connections with their employees and guests. They way that they treated me during my time there was second to none, however, I do wish that there was more of an emphasis on the mental health of their workers. Overall a great midwest company!
I have worked for the Target in the Fayetteville Pavilion in Georgia for a couple months as a style consultant and checkout advocate because our store was understaffed and occasionally overworked past our work availability that we listed on our job application. When I was on the sales floor, I liked how my coworkers and I communicated about our workload, gave each other advice about daily life, and we helped each other out with different sections of the floorpad that needed to be brought back to standards of Target brand. However, occasionally I had to leave my section of Ready to Wear (women's) or GBI (kids) to come assist with the influx of guests that were ready to make a purchase since management was being slow to hire candidates. So sometimes, our sections wouldn't look as visually appealing to guests and we had to often take the blame for their negligence after we brought it to management's attention several times. The pay was somewhat decent for what the employees endured.
