Sherwin-Williams Company Reviews
Rating 4.22 out of 5 76 reviews
Working with Sherwin-Williams is a hands-on, fast-paced, and engaging work opportunity. Every day I walk in, I know that I am going to be proven to not be as knowledgeable as I think I am by the time I clock out. Regardless of experience, there will always be someone coming through the front door asking you something that makes you wish pulling out a search engine was more professional, or that you think you missed something in training. That being the only gripe I have, the lack of training. If I hadn't already stepped into this position with experience, I know I would have struggled. I've seen it in new employees. At times I have cursed the lack of communication in products that seem to swing from around the corner, old and new. There is always something to learn in this great big world and despite the niche that is paint quality, shines, color complexity, theory, and whatever else I have yet to learn about it, working at Sherwin-Williams has humbled my ego and taught me patience.
It was good starting out- there was a lot to learn, and it could be overwhelming, but it was better with a manager or assistant manager by your side helping you through. Over the course of months, though, people began to show their true colors. I, a part timer, was thrust into solo shifts, open to close, with no supervision, cameras, or working alarm system. I had customers actively wish me harm if I couldn't solve their problems right away. And when I asked for help, I got, "that's just the way it is." As I'm heading to college I can't change my job right now. I'm getting paid part time wages for manager level work. Toxic corporate environment and disconnectedness from their actual employees.
I've had many jobs in the past before working at Sherwin-Williams and it has by far been my best. I started working here once I started community college after high school and have been here ever since. Not only is it possible to move up and grow in the company, but I've seen it happen over the short time I've been there (2 years). Although I am transferring to a university soon, I really enjoyed working at the company so much that I plan on transferring to a Sherwin-Williams location in the area I'll be moving to.
