Experienced Employee: NYP is overall a great company. I cannot speak for all departments, however, the Internal Audit Department is an excellent place to work. Everyone is friendly and respectful, a key part of the culture. Pay is above average for this field and managers allow staff to work remotely, which was especially helpful during the pandemic. I would definitely recommend working here. Managers are understanding and allow you to be flexible with your work schedule when necessary. Entry Level Employee: Everybody is very Reponses. exRecently went to visit a friend who was in the ER, before being admitted to the hospital. I've made visits to Montefiore for close to 50 years. During that time there have been tremendous improvements cosmetically, medically, and technologically, all over the hospital. There's an outstanding children's hospital that is well thought out. The vast majority of the staff are caring and professional. The food in the cafeteria is actually good and there is an unusual assortment of choices. Considering there are several fast food franchises, pizzerias, and restaurants in the area it is an option rather than the only choice. The one thing that hasn't changed or improved in all that time, is the ER! It's always over crowded, although there are several doctors, nurses, support staff it seems like there's never enough hospital staff to handle the rush of patients to triage.cellent service. and great doctors and nurse.... Intern / Student Worker: I worked at Albany Medical Center for 5 years during the Summer months and college breaks in the Winter. I was a medical records specialist in the health information services department. The hospital was phenomenally run, and it was considered to be, by far, the best hospital in the capital region. My department and supervisor was excellent. My hours and schedule were completely flexible. I didn't have a huge amount of work piled onto me. Intern / Student Worker: As a student at RGH, I am happy with all of the learning opportunities and community engagement with which the hospital has provided me. Working in the Operating Room department, I was able to work on a team with other OR Assistants, organize medical supplies and set up surgeries. I made new friends in the department and got the opportunity to see a hernia removal and a knee arthroplasty. After this rotation, I worked in the clinical statistics department and the clinical research department. It was thrilling to work with numbers and see how RGH ranked compared to hospitals in Monroe County and in the US. Experienced Employee: I have spent over 20 years in my profession at Strong Memorial Hospital. Because of the associated medical school, I have had to opportunity to share my experience and knowledge with medical students, residents, and fellows as they have spent time rotating through the department. There is always a wide variety of patients with different pathologies, so there is no such thing as a 'typical' day. For future planning, after vesting two years of time, the hospital will put money into a retirement 403b plan, regardless of personal contribution to one's own retirement account. There are a couple of health insurance plans to choose from, with optional dental and vision riders. The one big downside is we pay for parking. Experienced Employee: I've been working at St. Francis Hospital for almost a year now, and I can honestly say that the transitioning process was the worst part of it. Every unit within this hospital is like a family, and so they're very cautious to newcomers. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work in a position where I'm exposed to countless procedures, patients, and coworkers from all different positions. The best part about working for such a big company is the compensated time-off. If you're sick or plan a vacation, you'll be compensated for your time off. Entry Level Employee: I do love working at Thompson Hospital. The people who work there are kind to you and go out of their way to give you a big smile and a friendly “Hello”! We care for the community and try the best we can to take care of whoever walks in our door. Are there things that need to change yes, but we are over time try to make Thompson Hospital better. Currently we are remodeling patient rooms so they look more modern and installing new call bell systems to make sure if a patient needs help we can respond right away! We’ve also updated our code procedures to make it more clear for staff what is going on around us. The cafeteria is improving the menu selections to give people delicious and nutritious food. The one thing hopefully that will improve in the near future is being understaffed, but fortunately we have excellent workers who work as a team with great communication to make sure that it doesn’t affect patient care.
