Intern / Student Worker: Staff is great. Very friendly and helpful. Believe at times staff could be more on top of things such as medications and charting properly. There are many checks placed throughout the systems and as long as everyone does their job correctly then there will be no issue in improper medication administration and proper intake/output times. These are good tools to implement to prevent any complications that may arise. I have not found many errors but it would be better if there were no errors. The hospital is very safety oriented. There are many protocols in place to be sure that patient safety is THE main priority. There are also an abundance of resources for the staff that are available to access at any time. Entry Level Employee: I enjoy my time at Cigna. It is definitely a step up from working in a retail pharmacy, however my job does function as an inbound call center. The main difference is that you are having to handle calls with physicians, facilities, and pharmacies to process authorizations. I am able to have a change in day to day activities, from being on the phones to working faxes to making select calls to providers. There is opportunity for growth but you have to be meeting metrics and do well on your evaluations if you want to move to a different department or gain a lead or supervisor position.... Experienced Employee: I like working for HOCC because it is a smaller hospital, and you get to know everyone better. You look forward to going into work when you get along with others at your workplace. I have only lived in New Britain for three years. I moved from another state, and I have to say I really like the atmosphere here in HOCC. The staff on my unit make the workday tolerable even on bad days. If you have good coworkers then the day is good. The bonus checks yearly are quite nice I must say.
