Experienced Employee: I worked there from 2018-2021 and then left to finish school, but ultimately I ended up back at Whole Foods. From 2018-2021, Whole Foods went through a lot of changes such as being bought (and then dropped) from Amazon and a more corporate attitude which rubbed many workers the wrong way especially since the corporate attitude brought the mindset that a skeleton crew was the way to run and that employees were to blame for any shortcomings of the manager. I finally left to finish school and try out other jobs, but in the time I was gone Whole Foods cleaned up the staff and fired all of the abusive managers. I interpreted this as the company listening to employee concerns and have now been working there for a few months with no problems. Whole Foods does fall behind in terms of education and scholarships as there are none; but as far as retail goes- they have great PTO and give out hefty yearly raises. Cheese has an amazing work force, it wasn't the customers or the details of the job that made the job fulfilling, it was always your fellow coworkers that made the work enjoyable and meaningful. Entry Level Employee: I worked at two different Abuelos restaurants over the course of 3.5 years, and I loved it! It's an excellent place to work while in high school and college, and there are many servers that have been there for 6+ years. That's a really good sign! The restaurant in Oklahoma was one of the best run restaurants I have ever seen, and I wish I could've stayed there until I started my career. The pay for servers is server minimum wage, of course, but the other employees are compensated very well. They are flexible when working with complicated schedules, and they even have a PTO policy in place. Because of the price of the food, the money is decent, and it is relatively consistent, at least at the branch I worked at in Oklahoma. I am in college now and my manager is flexible with my schedule and allows me to work the days that I need to so that it does not conflict with my college classes. Senior Employee: I love working at Central Market! There is a culture of diversity and charitability that I have never experienced at any other job. Not only this, but this company is always looking for opportunities to grow the careers of the people who work for them and to create opportunities for communities all across Texas. I have worked for Central Market for two years now and I have received a promotion twice as well as multiple significant pay raises. They also offer scholarship opportunities for students and great benefits for full-time employees. Not to mention, since the Covid crisis began, Central Market has paid for hundreds of employees to stay home while in quarantine. The one thing that I would change about Central Market is the way they handle harassment in the workplace. I know multiple people who have made harassment complaints against other partners & it didn't seem like much was done about their behavior or to protect those who made the complaints.
