Experienced Employee: Starbucks was my first job right after high school. I have worked there for about 5 years now. There have been so many changes within the company but one thing that stayed consistent was partner care. I always feel supported by management and the team. I was able to take a day off for mental health reasons with no questions asked, but a lot of support. This job is also very flexible with my school schedule which is amazing. I also have had the opportunity to really network, because you see hundreds of different people during a work week. This is the best first job for anyone, or just the best job for a student. Entry Level Employee: I would give this place a 3.5. Starting out here was definitely rough, they hire because the turnover rate is pretty high in my opinion and they are always understaffed. They make it seem like this amazing company when they interview you but once you get hired and put into orientation, they just kind of throw you in there and expect you to figure things out on your own. Experienced Employee: I have worked at Harborview Medical Center for four years. My position has no room for growth, as I'm a Mental Health Specialist. Nurses, however, can be promoted to various positions throughout the hospital. Harborview Medical Center is a taking hospital, so students are always around to soak up knowledge. Parking here is horrendous for day shift people, but the prices ease up for the evening or night staff. It is easy to make connections here, as people are always willing to talk. Experienced Employee: Restaurants Unlimited is a decent company to work for. As they are a large company located in the Northwest, there are many opportunities available to transfer locations in a variety of different restaurant styles. All of their restaurants have moderately high ticket prices which mean a higher amount of tips, however, staffing sometimes is an issue. Many of my coworkers had worked in other Restaurants Unlimited restaurants and they all complained of over-staffing. Management is often condensending, lazy, and rude.
