Entry Level Employee: I have enjoyed working at Academy during my time here. Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak Academy has really stepped up. We are still open because we are deemed essential but you do not have to work you do not feel comfortable coming in during this time, no penalties will be placed on you. They have also increased everyones pay $2 to thank the workers who are working during this difficult time. I love the management, at most places the general manager is like a ghost, but at Academy is is actively involved in everything that we do. We recently had an employee transfer to a location closer to his hime and the GM brought in cookies, cupcakes, and donuts to throw him a going away celebration. During Thanksgiving when everyone was working extremely hard around the holidays, the GM decided to cook a feast for all of the employees to enjoy as a reward for their hard work. Intern / Student Worker: I worked as a Stylist in a Boston Area Francesca's. The experience has been fun and wonderful! My manager was incredibly understanding with my commitments as a full-time student and worked out the schedule with me incredibly well. My co-workers have made the time even more fun. In terms of the job requirements, it was very simple and easy to pick up on. The manager guided me through it and made the transition very well. After working there for only two months, the manager had decided to promote me to a key holder, but as I wasn't 18 yet she was unable to until the summer (during which the Covid-19 pandemic started). Manager / Director: The salary and benefit package is very good and for those interested in learning new skills and/or advancement, there are many opportunities available. I felt that the expectations of management was fair. If you come to work each day on time and put in a solid days work, you have nothing to worry about!There were times when new processes were introduced that the explanation and/or training was lacking. This creates confusion for the work force and lost productivity. There are some managers, especially those who have been around for a long time, that simply are not open to new ideas. It is almost impossible to get them to even listen to why the existing method is creating a problem or why it is costing the company money. Fortunately, not all managers are that way. Great bonuses, most hospitals don’t offer this. Adequate training. Free parking at facility. Supportive upper management. No downsides. A very professional setting. The culture of this organization is all about respect, caring, compassion. Organization cares about the employees and patients. Safety is very important. I'm currently in school and they have been very flexible with my schedule. My job does get stressful at times, but it's nothing that I take home at the end of the day. Also get the benefit of them helping pay for school. If needed the backup child care is available. Experienced Employee: I’ve been working for this organization as a medical coder for almost 5 years. I love the fact that they offered me a job as soon as I graduated with no experience, which is really hard to obtain these days. They try to be flexible with your schedule if you have children or plans on pursuing a higher education. They have excellent benefits and employee discounts for hotels, electronics, etc. I love being able to work remotely and only going on-site once a year for our annual Christmas meeting/party. My only complaint is that once you master one level of coding, it’s very hard to advance and move up within the field. I would like to see more cross training for other areas because there’s a lot you can do with coding. I would also like to see more positions in training for seasoned coders to teach other coders how to code. We do get CEU credit for our meetings to report to AHIMA which is nice along with other educational meetings and new code books at no cost each year.... Read 7 reviews

They have most of their manuals online and available so if you are in the field and need help, there is plenty of places to look! The pay is comparable for all the hours you work, and they have you working and the training is necessary to keep everyone safe!
