Intern / Student Worker: I had a positive experience as an intern. I was given a lot of responsibilities of a typical field engineer, and had many chances to learn and put that knowledge into real applications. I received a lot of support and mentorship from the others on my site and from my bosses. Overall, there are many positive aspects of working at Kiewit, and I hope to return for a full time position. My one warning to future prospective employees, especially students without prior experience in the industry, is that this job makes having a work/life balance more difficult. If this is a priority, boundaries need to be established early on, but the nature of this industry requires longer hours and should be understood before starting.
