Not given much choice since my manager is unqualified for the position she is in for my direct department. A good leader can not be insecure or create favoritism over one employee to another. Her management skills are very poor and hard to deal with on a regular basis. She threw this department in my lap and is constantly offended if I make changes and lead where she lacks. Always seem the harder I work the more I find myself in "trouble". Management is newer and has a lot to learn. This makes it hard for an effective work environment . Higher management needs to step out of his office and interact with employees, check in, and be more involved with staff. Entry Level Employee: Working for St. Luke's Hospital of Kansas City has been one of the more rewarding and fulfilling experiences of my adult career. I have met some of the most amazing nursing staff in my time as both a CNA and as an EMU Technician. They are courteous, putting the patients needs and safety above all else. In the Neuro Science Institute, they have the most involved, comprehensive stroke care and a top quality Epilepsy Monitoring Unit specializing in seizures. I do miss the feel of the hospital when it was St. John's. The warmer, less cooperate feel. Working for a large health system definitely has it's pros and cons. Cons of having to deal with people in a different city than you because that's where the "home" hub is. Pros- we are a level 1 trauma center and get to do and see so many things and have such a large impact on the surrounding community.
