Experienced Employee: I have been working at Hy-Vee for over three years now and I have enjoyed my experience so far. The company is very good about not overwhelming their employees, and they provide us with special deals for being employees as well as a 10% discount once a week on all groceries. The company also has yearly raises that certainly help with inflation rates and gives us room for advancement should we seek it. We are also given the opportunity to transfer to different departments after working for a little while in grocery. I was able to transfer to Produce and I have very much enjoyed the change of scenery along with the increase in pay. As far as the bad things though, the pay starts very low at minimum wage in some areas. The company also does a very poor job at communicating sales and price changes as most are last minute and department managers are easily confused when customers bring a discount that was correct previously but is no longer available.... Experienced Employee: Our hospital is very respected in our community. I am proud to say I am a part of it. It is a great place to work and a place I love to come. I look forward to treating our patients, help them feel better and get back to look life. I know what it's like to put your life "on hold" for a medical reason. Even if we cannot make them feel better physically we can offer conversation to help ease anxiety's. It not just about treating the patient but also treating the patients family as well. When someone is sick it's a family affair. Not just a patient. My hospital is in desperate need of CMAAs, CBCSs, CEHRSs. There is a shortage in our area. I have found a trade school program that will be a 23 week course and I can sit for my certifications through the National Health Administration. I not only want to complete this for myself, but more importantly to help my employer for the past 17 years and our community. I know I can pass these course. All GRMC employees are constantly working on our Excel values! Our patients/elders are so very pleased with the type of care they receive when at Great River Medical Center, no matter the department (emergency department, OB, women's health, Klein center, rehabilitation/therapy, cardiology, pulmonology, Cancer Center etc.) We have grown alot and now offer services in multiple surrounding town including but not limited to Keokuk, fort Madison, Mount pleasant. Great health care and retirement benefits! It is a smaller hospital so you get a little bit of everything when it comes to patients, which is great to build experience.
