Experienced Employee: I have been with Humana for over 5 years and it has been a wonderful experience thus far. Humana's core values are centered around wellness and care for both employees and members we serve. I am proud to say that during my tenure I have witnessed many good things that Humana has done for the community as a whole and not just our members. Humana is involved in many projects across many states. Employees like myself have volunteered at many food drives, Habitat for Humanity projects, and urban development projects just to name a few. One thing I would like to see change is the investment in employees, especially those of us seeking a career change in nursing and other healthcare fields. Experienced Employee: I have been here for almost 2 years, and I am on my second role. I started out as a true newbie. I was trained on the job and I appreciate that they took a chance on me. Healthcare in general is a competitive field, and that definitely translates into the workplace culture. There are a ton of cliques, but if you're like me, you make friends at work, but do not dive to deep. It is all about the patients. Putting everything aside and focusing on the patients does not leave much room for drama if you do not actively look for it. All and all, comparative to the other hospitals around town, I hear that this is one of the best when it comes to work environments. I have met some amazing people here, and do not plan on leaving anytime soon--so, that should say how I feel about it here. The diversity is...below average, I'd say. Experienced Employee: It's the best paying job I've had so far. I work as a delivery driver, so I get a combination of base pay, tips, and mileage reimbursement. My schedule is very flexible as long as I give my manager prior notice, and I can typically make about $80 in tips and mileage reimbursement in a five hour night shift. The work environment is great, all of my coworkers and managers are super chill and we're all able to have fun together to make work less boring or stressful. My only issue is that many of my coworkers joke about us not having an HR department, so I'm genuinely not sure if we have one that I could get in touch with should I ever need it.... Experienced Employee: Jewish Hospital had many excellent nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals!!! That is the best part about working there daily. I have had my fair share of rude, angry doctors or disgruntled patients, but that wouldn't even compare to the number of smiling faces you see each day, especially on 5 Towers! The people there-doctors, nurses, pcas & patients- treat each other like family!! It is one of the most rewarding places I've ever worked & I couldn't say enough about how wonderful the people are there! With all good things, there's always some bad. So, in my experience at Jewish Hospital, both as an employee and patient, the one thing that always seems to limit the care provided is the equipment or lack of equipment available. It's a constant battle to have extra cots for family to use, to have enough blood pressure cuffs and just basic equipment in order to be able to do your job as seemleesly as possible....
