Experienced Employee: I like working for Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. I have only worked at one other hospital and did clinical at Spectrum Butterworth in Grand Rapids Michigan. Mercy pays RN's very well. I have been an RN for 4 years and I make 33$ an hour. They also mandate which is somewhat of a drawback but this means there is not really a float pool so the hospital is constantly offering RN's double time especially in ER/ICU. This is great if you are looking to work overtime. The workplace culture is hit or miss. It depends on the unit you work in. But I see management working hard to increase positivity among the units. I work in ICU and I have seen three different managers come and go. They have issues with retaining management. The building is old and equipment doesn't work half of the time. But this is a well known problem and a new hospital is currently in the works. Nurse to patient ratio is somewhat of a problem except in ICU where they keep it 1:1 or 2:1.... Read 3 reviews
