I worked in the library sector of this company. As a library worker, you’re often pushed to be more of a book seller than a librarian. While that sounds unorthodox because selling books defeats the whole purpose of having or going to a library. However, you will need to visit or
Call one of San Bernardino County’s libraries to see what I’m talking about. If Barnes and Nobles had libraries, these would be them (I may be predicting the future here). Anyways, working as a staff member was often times stress but it was nice to work around other staff members who were understanding and supportive. In such a high stress environment, it is easy to crumble under the pressure, especially if you’re working at the desks. However, lead staff try most of the time to relieve the stress. Overall I enjoyed my time working as a library worker because it allowed me to grow so much as a worker and work with others in ways I had never imagined before.

The benefits are definitely great, however, employees are not treated as people. Employee opinions and feedback are not valued and always ignored, despite being the people on the frontlines dealing with any issues at hand. They do not promote the best people available for the position, it is all about politics.
I enjoy the opportunity to perform social work for the county of San Bernardino. Management stresses the need to service our clientele and to be respectful of their needs, as well as the focus of protecting the vulnerable children in our area. I have been encouraged to push forward and to advance my career by multiple supervisors since my arrival.
