Excellent place to work. The best co-workers. Benefits are good. Plan to work here for years to come.
I like Ochsner's vision and mission for the future. Its Vision is that it will be a global medical and academic leader who will save and change lives. It will shape the future of healthcare through its integrated health system, fueled by the passion and strength of the diversified team of physicians and employees. It's mission, simply, is to Serve, Heal, Lead, Educate and Innovate.I like having the ability to grow my career while working there. Ochsner promotes personal and professional growth. There are many educational programs affiliated with Ochsner. There is an M.A. program, which is pretty new. Also, there is a Nursing Program, a Radiologic Technology Program, and a partnership with the University of Queensland Medical School. They are leading our region towards global recognition. Ochsner is known for its Transplant Program. It is the number one provider of liver transplants.
My experience at Ochsner on Jefferson Hwy was ridiculous. After applying, I did 1 phone interview, 4 in-person interviews, 5 total. I workd on POSS (post-operative surgical services). The tech training didnt want to be shadowed as there were two of us new to the unit. The unit clerk was rude to me cuz i didnt answer her calls in a timely manner although I explained i was busy. I got into a verbal altercation with a sitter because she askd for help but wnt help me when i arrived to help her. I was sent home early into my shift but not written uo only recommended behavioral classes after several days of not hearing anything from my unorganized unit director. The self scheduling was a joke because you still ended up working several days you requested off. I had jury duty from 8-4, but was still expected to work 5 12s from 7-7. PCT orientation gave me the run around cause the instructor which locations. The pay offered was okay. Terrible experience.
The only this I don't like, is that there is a revolving door of new and random policities and procedures.
Team members are great!

This is a great company to work for with many locations and opportunity. The healthcare benefits are affordable and convenient.
I like the camaraderie of some of the employees. There's currently a lot of staffing changes and rearranging that's going on that does not seem to benefit the staff that has to deal with it like the night shift. There's also a period of time that one of the areas lack a provider for a couple hours which means that we lack their assistance with patients' at the time.
I enjoy meeting the patients and having a hand in their patient care. Ochsner is more like a second home than a job for me. I enjoy the work environment and the nurses that I work with. I would change the way some of the nurses take care and speak to the patients.
Ochsner is a great place to work. Know what you want to do to be happy with your role. Great learning opportunities given to help with career growth. Easy to request days off. Supervisor trys to work with you when she can't give you a day off. Overall it's a great place to work.
They state that their are opportunities for advancement, but will not hire you unless you are experienced.
I've had a great experience however the last few years have been under staffed and hard to deal wirh.
Great environment and co workers have great attitudes also. With plenty of growth opportunities no matter the direction of growth.
Ochsner is a great company to work for. It’s a huge company with lots of opportunities for growth. It’s also a very very busy place and continuing to grow. I hope that our resources will continue to grow along with the added responsibilities.
Ochsner and its employees work together to put the patients first. It is an employer who also tries to look out for its employees, because we are all part of the bigger picture of patient care.
I believe every place have its ups and down but one thing that i can say i love here is the teamwork for the patients
This company invests in its employees. They have excellent benefits and offer a wide variety of continuing education classes within the organization. They are constantly expanding.
I like the atmosphere at Ochsner Medical Center. It is very friendly and inviting. There are a lot of opportunities to cross train to move up in your department or apply to another department. I love how flexible they are with the schedules. You have the option to pick up shifts or switch shift. There is also a lot of overtime. Ochsner also offers tuition reimbursement, plus they will help you pay off your student loans.
Great people and awesome learning environment. The benefits are great, workplace culture is always friendly.
