My two year experience with the company was great! Over the years, I have developed extraordinary social skills and made loads of connections. Nordstrom’s devote its attention to building character development. The importance of teamwork was really expressed in this field of work. You’ll leave with skills in problem solving, communication, decision-making, creativity, organization, and analytics.
My position is a Store Operator. A customer and/or caller will call in and my job is to connect them to the correct store and/or help with general information. When I was first hired. It was towards the beginning of the Pandemic in July of 2020. When I learned that it was going to be a work from home position. I felt more comfortable and honestly a little excited. I always wanted to have that type of position. Sure yes, you'll have your good days and your bad days. No job is perfect. But what I've learned is that you learn from each day and stick with it the best you can. 2.5 years later I can say my work/home balance is a lot better than in the past and compensation continues to get better as well. I'm grateful to the leadership I've had as well. They made sure I was good from the very beginning and guided me every step along the way. You have to make the most of it and no short cuts
As a senior in high school I applied for this job having no previous experience working. So when landing a job at a professional company, naturally I was extremely enthusiastic. With everything being so new, I took in all the experiences I could in order to learn & grow. My main priority being that I provide the best customer service & genuinely be interested in helping customers with their needs. That quickly changed due to the pressures you feel from management on needing to sell and maintain certain numbers. It became quite apparent that numbers meant more than customer service to many of my co-workers, which created a pretty toxic work environment. Since I was still in school, I worked part-time & appreciated the emphasis that the company makes on the importance of education. But in general, the work/life balance is lacking quite a bit, which is something I would like to see change in the future. I also feel that for the amount of work you put into sales, you should be payed more.
