While working at Marriott Hotel, I experienced some challenges that made my experience less than ideal. One positive aspect was the opportunity to work alongside some great supportive, and helpful colleagues. However, some areas could be improved upon. For instance, the management could have been more communicative and transparent about scheduling changes and expectations. Additionally, the workload was often overwhelming, and the compensation could have been more competitive. While there were some positives, some areas could be improved to create a more positive and fulfilling work environment.
I was thoroughly impressive my experience with the Marriott, and I can definitely see myself coming back to work for the company. The benefits they offer are amazing as well as decent compensation. However, I would say the management is a little iffy in the food and beverage department and the staff find themselves miserable quite often while working a shift. Besides a couple staff members I’m pretty close to, no one really cares about anyone else and everybody’s just trying to get through their shift on their own terms.
I work in the restaurant and bar over the summer between school years, and it's been a pretty good experience. It's obviously very people-oriented, which can be pretty draining and exhausting, but that's what you get with being a server and bartender. Clients are good for the most part, but a lot of them are on the richer side, which can be either good or bad. The best part of the restaurant is definitely the pay. Schedules come out often 1-2 days before the following week, which can be inconvenient, but if you let them know which days you need off in advance, they will for the most part accommodate that into the schedule
