Marriott Hotels & Resorts Reviews
Rating 4.23 out of 5 69 reviews
My experience with the Marriot was only secondary to that of my position working in the hotel bar. Although I tended to stand out and assisted wherever I was needed across the entire building and faculty. I had the honor of cleaning rooms, checking in guests and understanding hotel policy and building codes from many other associates of mine that I had the pleasure of working with. Hotels are a great way of learning how receptionist and check in systems works with credit card authorization systems. Tracking of information and keep track of secure information for the hotel guest; all the benefits that come with working a team and Marriot will do just that for you. Not to mention they have a lot of opportunities for growth unlike any other companies I've seen. Manager in training programs, always offering P2P training and many more ways to assist anyone wanting to train in hotel hospitality.
Good job, flexible hours and decent pay. I’ve had the opportunity to work and be able to focus on my school content as well. The management is understanding that there is a life outside of work and that some people view the position as temporary so that they will be able to focus on their future education. However, they still hold you accountable and want you to succeed. Meeting all the new people allows you to have hands on experience working with different groups of people and all ages. I believe this is something that you will experience in all jobs so having the ability to be able to encounter situations and problems helps you understand problem solving skills. Helps you communicate and there are many good benefits that you get to indulge in while having a sometimes fast faced but also sometimes slow job. Everyday is different and it keeps you on your toes to know that you may have something new or meet someone new everyday. I’ve learned many new things.
I worked mainly as a banquet housman, the position itself is very physically demanding. Depending on how many events are going on in the building you can expect to be very busy deconstructing, cleaning, and constructing new room layouts. In my experience this can be very strenuous as I was often having to work on my own, meaning I was the only one responsible for tending to muliple active rooms. I would have liked there to have been at least 1 other Houseman working so that work could flow a lot smoother. Outside of that, the positon is very flexible for college students or part time workers. Pay is decent and coworkers are great.
